About Ridwell
Ridwell is a service that inspires people to create a future without waste. Today, we make it easy to reuse and recycle more by identifying recyclable and reusable items that the city doesn't collect through both our doorstep pickup and mail-in services, connecting those materials with local and national partners that can use them sustainably. Our future plans go much further and include making zero waste a reality for millions.

As a B Corp-certified company, sustainability isn't just a company value—it's a fundamental part of our purpose and interests. Our mission is to empower communities to waste less, and every success our team celebrates means more waste saved from the landfill and more valuable donations in the hands of local non-profits.

This is a pivotal moment of growth for Ridwell. We're looking for people who are energized by a challenging, fast-paced environment, ready to make a real impact on a mission that matters, and excited to grow alongside a team that's genuinely invested in one another!

About the role

Ridwell is looking for a hands-on Operations Supervisor to help launch and establish our new facility in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Customers nationwide use our prepaid mail-in bags to send us hard-to-recycle materials, including plastics, wine corks, and more. Our team sorts everything that comes in and prepares it for transport to partners who recycle and reuse the materials.

This role will initially focus on setting up and overseeing our mail-in operation, coordinating supplies and equipment, and implementing and refining operational processes to support an efficient, reliable workflow. The ideal candidate has experience in warehouse operations, fulfillment, or logistics, plus the organizational skills and initiative to own a new operation. As Ridwell's East Coast operations grow, this person will have the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities and grow alongside the business.

This is a full-time, onsite position at a warehouse facility in Harrisburg, PA, which Ridwell is working to secure. The role requires working on-site five days per week.

  • Purpose Drives Our Actions. Knowing why we are doing something enables us to focus on what is truly important.
  • We Are Stronger Together. Every person is critical to our success. We need diverse perspectives to execute on creative solutions. By fostering collaboration and connection at every level, we can be phenomenal.

Responsibilities

  • Launch and establish operations: Lead the initial setup and launch of Ridwell’s mail-in operation in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, by coordinating warehouse setup, including supply and equipment delivery and installation, and ensuring operational readiness.
  • Implement and improve processes: Put established workflows into practice, identify efficiency improvements, and help refine day-to-day operations.
  • Oversee mail-in processing: Manage the receipt, sorting, and preparation of incoming materials for transport to recycling and reuse partners.
  • Coordinate logistics: Support the movement and handling of materials, including incoming shipments and outbound transport to partners.
  • Maintain operational standards: Keep the facility organized and ensure materials are handled accurately and efficiently.
  • Hire and support a warehouse associate: Hire, train, and manage a founding Warehouse Associate, providing day-to-day direction and leadership.
  • Support future growth: Help build a strong operational foundation that can scale with increasing mail-in volume and Ridwell's expanding overall East Coast presence.

Qualifications

  • Experience in warehouse operations, fulfillment, logistics, or a related operational role.
  • Experience leading day-to-day operations, implementing processes, and improving workflows.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and keep operations running smoothly.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, a strong sense of ownership, and a hands-on approach, with the ability to take initiative, adapt to changing needs, and pitch in wherever needed, especially during the launch of a new operation.
  • Curiosity and a growth mindset, viewing day-to-day activities as opportunities to learn, improve, and find better ways of working.
  • Experience training, supporting, or managing team members, with the ability to provide clear direction and set expectations.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Ability to build, refine, and improve processes as operational needs and volume evolve.
  • Must be 21 years or older with a valid driver’s license for at least 3 years.
