Wells Fargo is seeking an Operations Specialist. As an Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for providing expert knowledge and strategic guidance on domestic and international payment systems. You will play a key role in ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and the successful delivery of payment-related initiatives across the bank. The role also includes supporting Audit walkthroughs and maintaining robust control procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the lead expert on UK and international payment schemes including Faster Payments, BACS, CHAPS, SWIFT, SEPA, and ISO 20022.
- Support the implementation and enhancement of payment systems and platforms, ensuring alignment with regulatory and industry standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Technology, Compliance, Risk, and Product to deliver seamless payment operations.
- Monitor regulatory developments (e.g., PSD2, FCA guidelines) and ensure payment processes remain compliant.
- Contribute to payment transformation projects, including system migrations, new product rollouts, and process reengineering.
- Act as an escalation point for complex payment issues and provide resolution guidance.
- Facilitate audit walkthroughs and support internal and external audit requests related to payment processes.
- Maintain and update control procedures, ensuring they are documented, tested, and aligned with operational and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain documentation, training materials, and process maps for payment operations.
- Liaise with external stakeholders such as payment service providers, and correspondent banks.
- Extensive experience in banking operations with a focus on payments.
- Deep understanding of payment infrastructures, messaging standards (SWIFT MT/MX, ISO 20022), and settlement processes.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks including PSD2, and sanctions screening.
- Experience with payment platforms and core banking systems
- Familiarity with audit processes and control frameworks (e.g., operational risk controls).
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify and resolve operational inefficiencies.
- strong experience in a payment's role within a bank or financial institution.
- Proven track record in delivering payment-related projects or change initiatives.
- Experience supporting audits and maintaining control documentation.
- Familiarity with digital banking trends, open banking APIs, and real-time payments.
