A Day in the LifeAs the Operations Sourcing Program Manager, you will be based at Medtronic’s Grand Rapids or Dexter, MI manufacturing site, directly leading Operations Sourcing for these campuses. You will manage, identify, implement, and align global sourcing strategies, initiatives, supply assurance, risk mitigation, sourcing continuous improvement and productivity programs, and global supplier network capabilities for commodity materials to achieve business objectives.Medtronic's Dexter, MI facility supports producing Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS) Products and Catheters, including the Nautilus, VitalFlow, Bio-Medicus, and Crescent product lines. Our Grand Rapids, MI site manufactures Cardiac Surgery devices to address the needs of customers and patients worldwide. As the Operations Sourcing Program Manager, you will manage, identify, implement, and align global sourcing strategies, initiatives, supply assurance, risk mitigation, continuous improvement, productivity programs, and global supplier network capabilities for commodity materials to achieve business objectives. You will identify metrics, tools, and processes to optimize sourcing, supplier activities, efficiencies, and work collaboratively with stakeholders to prioritize and drive implementation, working collaboratively with Global Supply Management functions to support material strategies and productivity improvement programs to achieve Operating Unit and Manufacturing network objectives.
You will:
Drive Last Time Buy activities and Strategic Inventory Purchase activities to ensure continuity of supply.
Implement programs to manage supply risk and drive actions to mitigate risk
Collaborate with Operations Scheduling and drive programs for Raw Material Inventory Optimization.
Drive industry best practices and provide leadership to implement continuous improvement within the manufacturing site supply chain.
Support the value stream/site’s cross-functional teams in developing sourcing strategies/programs for materials where standardization/aggregation will yield significant savings or process improvement.
Fosters a culture of continuous improvement and lean to drive advancements in the supply base on quality, cost, and performance to support business objectives.
Improve specific supplier performance improvement plans in areas that impede our ability to meet our customers’ requirements.
Participate in Strategic Supplier Reviews to drive value improvement opportunities across the organization.
Conduct regular reviews of sourcing programs and ensure best practices are implemented throughout the organization.
Collaborate with manufacturing facilities to ensure the availability of raw materials and supplies required for ongoing production and new product development when necessary.
Must Have
Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant supply chain experience is required, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant supply chain experience
Nice to Have
Demonstrated ability to produce cost savings/value in contracting, ability to negotiate, develop, and administer contracts
Medical Device OEM or Contract Manufacturing experience
Six Sigma Black or Green Belt & Lean manufacturing background
Experience in leading and influencing negotiations, project management, troubleshooting, problem-solving analysis, strategic thinking, and collaborative team building
Solid computer skills: i.e., Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project. Advanced Excel knowledge (vlookup, pivot tables, formulas, macros)
Proven communication, leadership, interpersonal, and team-building skills
Influencing skills to achieve results across a matrixed and virtual organization
Knowledge of regulatory environments (i.e. ISO, FDA-GMP, etc.) or equivalent
Ability to provide change leadership and accelerate change
Working knowledge of statistical data analysis and related statistical tools
