Operations Resource Assistant

Who will you be working with?

We are seeking an Operations Resource Assistant to join our team at Wabtec UK based in Burton on Trent we support our customers through maintenance and operation optimisation with customised solutions for spare parts, repair, and overhaul activities on existing trains.

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 08:00am to 16:30pm, and Friday 08:00am to 13:00pm

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

How will you make a difference?

You will be responsible be supporting the Resource Manager to ensuring consistent staff management, timely escalation, and effective deployment of staffing across the operation.

What will your typical day look like?

• Develop training plans with Production Managers and hold regular meetings to ensure compliance.
• Coordinate external training with the Competency team to meet competency requirements.
• Maintain accurate, auditable training records with the Competence department.
• Conduct return‑to‑work interviews as required.
• Ensure Tensor data is accurate and up to date.
• Work with HR to action permanent changes in Workday.
• Monitor attendance issues, including absence irregularities and lateness; liaise with HR and conduct necessary meetings such as RTW, investigations, and initial performance management.
• Liaise with recruitment agencies to manage staffing needs, including PO requests, pre‑employment processes, and leavers.
• Support Operations and Production Managers with ad‑hoc projects related to SLAs and KPIs.
• Assist the Resource Manager in ensuring Production Managers and Team Leaders maintain optimal staffing levels.

What do we want to know about you?

• Previous administrative experience (preferably within an operations environment)
• Basic understanding of HR Management of staff
• Excellent IT Skills proficient in Microsoft Office
• Experience in Excel Wraps, Workday and Time & Attendance software (preferred)
