We’re looking for a hands-on Operations Manager to play a pivotal role in shaping and growing our hazardous waste treatment facility. This is more than a management role — it’s an opportunity to build a high-performing culture, develop people, and drive operational excellence in a complex, fast-evolving environment.

What you'll be doing
You’ll lead day-to-day operations across our hazardous waste facility, including waste oil production, shredder processes, and transfer station activities — ensuring everything runs safely, efficiently, and compliantly.

Own site performance — driving safe, compliant and efficient operations across all processes.
- Safety & Compliance
Champion a Safety First culture, ensuring full compliance with environmental permits and H&S standards.
- Continuous Improvement
Embed Lean principles (5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping) to boost productivity, quality and cost performance.
- Performance Management
Use KPIs to create accountability and empower teams to take ownership of results.
- People Leadership
Develop and inspire your team through coaching, mentoring and structured development planning.
- Stakeholder Collaboration
Build strong relationships across teams and with external partners to ensure seamless, customer-focused delivery.
- Project Delivery
Lead operational projects with a focus on safety, structure and successful execution.
- Workplace Organisation
Introduce and embed visual management to elevate standards and drive continuous improvement.
What you'll bring
- NEBOSH General Certificate
- Experience in hazardous waste, waste treatment or similar environments
- A strong background in operational safety, including risk assessments and procedures
- Proven leadership of operational teams
- Hands-on experience with continuous improvement methodologies
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to turn data into action
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Highly organised, adaptable and able to prioritise effectively
- Solid IT capability
Desirable:
Waste industry experience- Behavioural safety or culture change expertise
- Degree-level qualification (or equivalent)
- COTC (hazardous waste transfer & treatment)
