About the Role

Morris and Dickson is seeking an Operations Manager who will lead the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of operations during the build-out and establishment of a new state-of-the-art Distribution Center in Olive Branch, Mississippi. This role will evolve as the Distribution Center transitions through key phases: build-out, staffing, initial production, and full-line production. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in project management, team leadership, and operational excellence to ensure the Distribution Center becomes a high-performing hub within the company's supply chain network.


What You'll Do

Phase 1: Build-Out & Establishment

  • Project Management:
    • Oversee DC construction milestones, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
    • Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to manage facility readiness.
  • Systems Implementation:
    • Partner with IT and logistics teams to implement Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other technologies.
    • Design workflows and processes for inventory management, receiving, and shipping.
    • Have an on-site presence for equipment receiving and installation
  • Operational Strategy:
    • Develop and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all operational functions that are effective for the new facility and considerate of our existing operations.
    • Establish safety protocols in compliance with OSHA and company standards.

Phase 2: Staffing and Initial Production

  • Talent Acquisition:
    • Collaborate with HR to recruit, train, and onboard staff for key DC positions.
    • Build a high-performing team aligned with company culture and operational goals.
  • Initial Production:
    • Manage and optimize operations during the ramp-up phase, focusing on efficiency and accuracy.
    • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), including order accuracy and cycle time.

Phase 3: Full-Line Production and Optimization

  • Operational Excellence:
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize productivity and cost-effectiveness.
    • Implement Lean principles and Six Sigma methodologies to streamline processes.
  • Leadership:
    • Lead cross-functional teams to achieve operational goals and maintain a culture of accountability and collaboration.
    • Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and compliance standards.
  • Performance Management:
    • Develop and track performance metrics, providing regular reports to senior leadership.
    • Conduct annual reviews and develop succession plans for key roles within the DC.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in distribution, logistics, or manufacturing operations.
  • Be a qualified Designated Representative with the State Boards of Pharmacy in California and Florida.
  • Proven experience in project management, particularly in new facility build-outs or large-scale operational launches.
  • Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of Lean principles and process improvement methodologies.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a related field.
  • Certifications such as PMP, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, or APICS certification.
  • Experience working in the Olive Branch, MS, or Memphis metropolitan logistics markets.
