Job Description

WHAT'S THE JOB?
Reporting to the District Manager of the Oilsands, the Operations Manager, Oilsands is responsible for overseeing the Lodge Management team to ensure efficiency and effectiveness and execute the strategic vision of the Senior Leadership Team. This is a majority field-based role, with approximately 80% of time spent in the field and 20% hybrid. The nature of field operations requires availability on some weekends to meet client and business requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

This role performs some or all of the following duties:

  • Lead a team of field-based Lodge Managers to ensure compliance with proper operation procedures and guidelines.
  • Strengthen Dexterra Partnerships’ operational processes to build highly efficient and effective operations.
  • Liaise with senior leadership and ensure the consistent implementation of both tactical and strategic initiatives to all field operation teams within your span of control.
  • Provide leadership of the field operations team ensuring effective performance management and continued development.
  • Lead the implementation of operational improvements in the areas of safety, quality, customer service, finance, and employee performance.
  • Communicate and share company standards and available resources that assist facility operations.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities and determine root causes in operating standards and overall guest satisfaction.
  • Establish clear business goals and financial targets with the Manager of each location.
  • Identify opportunities and best practices to improve profitability of locations.
  • Ensure compliance with employment standards, human rights, health and safety, and WHMIS within your span of control.
  • Accountable for key financial and performance measures including cost control, EBITDA, and customer ratings scores.
  • Assist in effectively and efficiently managing the development of the Hospitality Operations team to promote high quality customer service and satisfaction.
  • Other related duties are incidental to the work described herein.

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • A “safety above all else” attitude is required.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and think outside the box.
  • Minimum of 8 years of operations management experience.
  • Post-secondary education in management or a business-related degree/diploma considered an asset.
  • Experience in multi-unit management, hospitality industry, and/or oil and gas industry is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, highly challenging, and change-oriented environment.
  • Willingness and ability to work in the field approximately 80% of the time, including some weekends as required by client and business needs.
