Manager – Operations – Capacity
Essential Functions
- Manage cross-border operations.
- Assist in meeting the budget goals for his/her products.
- Oversee and ensure service levels with customers. Provide corrective actions when service issues arise.
- Manage Carrier relationships and rate negotiations.
- Assist in designing, developing, and rolling out cross-border FTL products.
- Work with and assist in training Mexico sales staff.
- Drive and ensure carrier performance meets customer expectations.
- Spot rate negotiations and contract rate negotiations with carriers.
- Identify, develop, and maintain carrier capacity.
- Manage staff and distribute workload to achieve target productivity.
Knowledge and Expertise
- Knowledge of Microsoft Tools--Ability to leverage Excel and other MS programs, including Word, Outlook, Lync, PowerBI, etc.
- Knowledge of the Customer Logistics — Knowledge and understanding of the customer's product, ability to flowchart the customer's basic supply chain, speak the customer's language, and understand the customer's key service measures, etc.
- The Uber Freight Way--Protocols for answering the phone, e-mail, IM, etc., etiquette, and professional standards.
- Uber Freight’s Expertise — Understand the Mission, Values, and Goals, organizational structure, company history, internal functions, administration, best practices, processes, behavior, and the complete Uber Freight’s order-to-cash process, etc.
- Geographical Expertise--Geographical understanding of the North American region. Understanding of mileage as it relates to the passage of time.
- Transportation procurement expertise.
- Knowledge of benchmarking / booking tools such as DAT, Truckstop, Cargado.
- Knowledge of problem solving tools such as 8D’s, fishbone diagrams, root cause analysis, etc.
- Experience in the crosee-border freight industry.

Skills Required:
- Intermediate Personal Computer Skills include electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
- Complex Systems management, including TMS technologies.
- Advanced Communication Skills: Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English and Spanish. Ability to write correspondence in both English and Spanish. Ability to effectively present information to customers, clients, coworkers, and managers in one-on-one situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Basic Mathematical Skills include adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing into all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret graphs.
- A reasonable understanding of mileage as it relates to the passage of time. The ability to convert standard time to military time and time based on the various time zones within the Continental U.S. and Canada, as required. General knowledge of the locations of the 48 continental states, Mexico, and Canada, as needed. Ability to use the postal zip code to locate the corresponding region of the country.
- Advanced Transportation knowledge, including equipment and mode types.
- Customer Service skills include recognizing the customer's needs and effectively addressing those needs through active solutions or communication of the need to the appropriate personnel.
- Fluent in English
Education
- Bachelor’s degree
Experience
- 6-10 years of transportation-related or customer service experience.
