Our client, the Central Okanagan Food Bank (COFB) is a non-profit, charitable organization committed to creating a hunger-free community by providing healthy, nutritious food to those who need it most. They rely on the generosity of the community to support the work they do through the donation of food, funds, and time. These donations come from individuals, families, organizations and community groups as well as various fundraising/food-raising efforts. 


The COFB is seeking an enthusiastic, hands-on leader to join its dynamic West Kelowna team. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the West Kelowna Lead is a key frontline leadership role responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the West Kelowna location, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations and exceptional service delivery through the organization's partial-choice distribution model. This position has a direct impact on the experience of individuals and families accessing food support and plays a vital role in advancing client dignity, operational excellence, and community connection throughout West Kelowna.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate all day-to-day operations of the West Kelowna location, ensuring a welcoming, respectful, and dignified experience for clients. 
  • Oversee food rescue, inventory management, storage, and distribution processes to ensure efficient operations, food quality, and equitable food access. 
  • Maintain accurate inventory controls, reporting, and documentation while utilizing best practices to minimize waste and maximize available resources. 
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards, health and safety requirements, and organizational policies and procedures. 
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and support to staff and volunteers, including recruitment, scheduling, training, and ongoing supervision. 
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and team-oriented culture that promotes excellent service delivery and community impact. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local community organizations, donors, and partners, serving as a positive ambassador within the West Kelowna community. 
  • Support and participate in community events, food drives, and engagement initiatives that advance the organization's mission and visibility. 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe facility, coordinating building maintenance, equipment upkeep, and property repairs as required. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure effective food supply management, program delivery, community engagement, donor stewardship, and alignment with organizational goals.


Requirements
  • 3–5+ years of experience in operations, logistics, or community-based leadership.
  • Proven leadership and team supervision experience.
  • Experience working with volunteers and diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices (or willingness to obtain certification).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Experience in non-profit or community services is considered an asset.

This position requires walking, standing, sitting and lifting boxes up to 50 lbs., and the ability to work a flexible schedule including supporting evenings and weekends as required.

This is a full-time, onsite opportunity. Salary will be aligned with experience level and is anticipated to start between $60,000 and $63,000 per year. In addition to base salary, the COFB offers a comprehensive benefit plan and a vacation entitlement that allows for work/life integration.
