Nordson MEDICAL designs, engineers and manufactures complex devices and components with applications in wound healing, surgical and minimally invasive, fluid management, pulmonology and interventional and structural heart. Our pioneering Advanced Polymers team was the first to manufacture and supply medical balloons to the medical device industry. Nordson MEDICAL works with doctors, start-ups and large medical companies around the world at any point in the product lifecycle, from concept to launch and beyond.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead, hire, train, identify, and develop current talent, and qualify assigned employees. Administer performance reviews and discipline employees as needed.
- Support the department's focus on Environmental, Health, and safety (Journey-To-Zero) by addressing issues, and risks, and proactively driving improvements.
- Provide leadership to the facilities and operations engineering teams.
- Effectively and efficiently execute the plant and facilities maintenance requirements.
- Understand current processes and technology, taking a hands-on approach to understanding how these can be improved to deliver production, technical, financial and quality requirements across all production departments.
- Ensure that manufacturing equipment and processes are validated, maintained, calibrated and documented in accordance with the Nordson quality system
- Foster a safe, professional, and team-oriented environment that promotes an owner mindset and employee empowerment. Ensure that standardized work processes are followed, and countermeasures are implemented (Plan-Do-Check-Act).
- Challenge the ‘status quo’ from an engineering and maintenance perspective
- Facilitate NBS's Next business model at the production floor level. Assist in the education and active engagement in applying NBS Next elements on the production floor. Actively participate in NBS Next Continuous Improvement initiatives to achieve leadership-level performance.
- Participate and drive cost reduction initiatives and process improvements.
- Maintain workforce with good attendance, flexibility in job assignments, and adaptability to changing business needs.
- Comply with and enforce all company policies and procedures. Provide direction, daily work assignments, and ongoing training to support daily production as needed through effective communication, coaching, and development.
- Delivers a talent strategy that builds winning teams through a focus on empathy, integrity, inclusion, learning, and collaboration.
- Promotes a culture consistent with Nordson values and Foundational Attributes.
- Coaches for development and manages performance and behavior concerns in a timely manner.

Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or relevant degree is preferred; in lieu of degree, additional experience may be required.
- 5+ years of people leadership experience and 10+ years manufacturing engineering experience. Extrusion, Lean, and project management experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization, excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills with the ability to maintain a culture of continuous improvement.
- Proficient in basic computer skills (MRP, MS Office, HRMIS, Time & Attendance, etc...)
Preferred Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Experience with Production Key Performance Indicators (KPI). Project Management experience desired.
- High level of passion and enthusiasm to lead problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts on the production floor.
- Demonstrates professionalism, builds trust, and ensures Nordson meets its commitments.
- Approachable and relationship-oriented with the ability to coach and develop others.
- cGMP and ISO 13485 experience.
