The Role: The Market Data team collect, store, and distribute real-time financial data from over 250 exchanges globally. As part of our ongoing platform transformation, we are migrating services and operational capabilities toward a cloud-based environment.
As an Operations Engineer, you will monitor and support the Market Data application stack and infrastructure, working closely with teams in London and Mumbai, as well as development partners and third-party vendors, to investigate and resolve operational issues. You will help ensure strong monitoring coverage and operational visibility, deploy software changes, and contribute to infrastructure and cloud migration initiatives.
Within the first 3-6 months, you are expected to operate independently within the support rota, confidently deploy changes, deliver meaningful monitoring improvements, and act as a trusted operational partner to development teams.
This is not a pure development or platform engineering role. The focus is on operational excellence, service reliability, and ownership, with opportunities to influence tooling, automation, and process improvements as the platform evolves.
Place of Work: This position is based in our London office.
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Following an initial training period, the role includes participation in a shift rotation, which may involve late finishes, weekend work, and Public/Bank Holidays.
Responsibilities:• Provide reliable 1st and 2nd line operational support across London and Mumbai, independently diagnosing and resolving the majority of issues and escalating complex or high-risk incidents where appropriate.• Proactively improve monitoring, alerting, and operational visibility, implementing enhancements directly or working with development teams as required.• Deploy, configure, and validate software changes to the Market Data application stack in line with established change and release processes.• Respond to internal and external operational requests in a timely and professional manner, ensuring appropriate follow-through to resolution.• Create and maintain clear, accurate operational documentation to support knowledge sharing and consistency.• Participate in shift rotations, training, and operational activities consistent with the responsibilities of the role.
Requirements:
We're looking for a technically capable Operations Engineer with strong troubleshooting skills and a service-focused mindset. In particular, you should bring:• 2+ years' experience in a Technical Operations, Production Support, or SRE-aligned role supporting live, business-critical systems.• Solid experience with Windows Server environments and Wintel-based infrastructure.• A working understanding of networking fundamentals and common protocols.• Practical scripting or automation experience using PowerShell and/or Python.• Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g. Splunk, New Relic, or similar).• Exposure to CI/CD, infrastructure, or deployment tooling (e.g. GitHub, Bitbucket, Terraform, Kubernetes, Harness, or comparable tools), with the ability to learn new tooling as required.• Experience supporting cloud-hosted services, preferably within AWS or hybrid environments.• Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
Experience supporting financial services or market data platforms is advantageous but not essential.
