The Operations Analyst plays a key role in the day-to-day processing and control of client payments, foreign exchange transactions and operational activity across the business.
This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced financial services environment, requiring accuracy, sound judgement and the ability to manage multiple operational workstreams while maintaining a high standard of client service and regulatory compliance.
Key Areas of Responsibility- Process, review and approve domestic and international payments, including incoming and outgoing wires.
- Create, review and verify beneficiary and payment instructions, ensuring accuracy and completeness before execution.
- Review, amend, cancel or modify foreign exchange transactions where required.
- Perform daily reconciliation of bank accounts against internal treasury and payment systems.
- Investigate and resolve payment, settlement and reconciliation queries promptly.
- Liaise directly with clients where clarification of beneficiary instructions, payment details or FX transactions is required.
- Work closely with Risk, Treasury and other internal teams to ensure exposures are appropriately managed and margin requirements are met.
- Support trade verification and other operational control processes.
- Participate in business projects and system enhancements affecting Operations.
- Maintain accurate operational records and ensure activity is performed in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
Reviewing and processing client payment instructions, verifying FX transactions, reconciling bank and internal system balances, resolving payment queries with clients and colleagues, coordinating with Risk and Treasury teams, and ensuring transactions are completed accurately and within required deadlines.
The role provides broad exposure to the operational infrastructure supporting an international FX and payments business and offers strong scope for progression as the Malta operation continues to expand.
Requirements
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong operational judgement, analytical ability and attention to detail, together with relevant experience in a payments or financial services environment.
- A minimum of two years' relevant experience in domestic and/or international payment processing is essential.
- Previous hands-on experience within a Payments, Banking Operations, Treasury Operations or similar financial services function.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to review payment instructions, identify discrepancies and resolve operational issues efficiently.
- Excellent attention to detail, with a strong focus on accuracy, control and timely execution.
- Ability to work effectively within established policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in bank or payment reconciliations would be considered an advantage.
- Good understanding of payment flows, beneficiary instructions and the processing of domestic and international transactions.
- Knowledge of the FX and payments industry would be advantageous.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively to deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the confidence to communicate directly with clients and internal stakeholders.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to take ownership of operational issues through to resolution.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a wider international team.
