An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Engineer – Operational Support to join Rolls Royce Submarines in Derby.
You will be responsible for the leadership of two teams dedicated to creation and co-ordination of responses to submarines mechanical and electrical NSRP defects and issues. To be the point of contact internally and externally between the MoD, build authority and the Technical Authority on all mechanical and electrical NSRP issues, on all classes of submarines through build, in-service and disposal. The role also requires the technical project management of high impact activities up to handover to dedicated project teams.

What you’ll be doing:
Your role is to lead, monitor and technically govern the two Operational Support teams to deliver the resolution of defects, concession requests, customer queries and NSRP issues through the company defect reporting and issues management systems.
- This involves leading the team through the assessment of complex technical issues and initial judgement and recommendations on the strategy to be taken to resolve the problem and managing the response through the wider technical community.
- To assist the team in creating, co-ordinating and managing technical projects through a wider network of resources.
- To assess the teams performance, monitor and govern against business delivery targets and process quality requirements.
- To manage the demand and resource requirements in the two teams.
- To be the direct point of contact between the customer and the wider submarines enterprise, which involves face to face, telephone and e-mail communications between the MoD technical and safety cells, Rolls-Royce site offices and our internal experts in a wide array of technical and project fields.
Position Qualifications:
- Previous submarine operator experience or degree qualified in an appropriate discipline.
- Good communications skills, both verbal and written.
- The ability to initiate strategies for solving complex problems and the making of accurate decisions and recommendations.
- The ability to prioritise, manage and control tasks to achieve the business/technical objectives within required timescales.
- Good people management skills.
