Purpose:
Operational Risk Management is responsible for ensuring operational risks are identified, assessed, monitored, and effectively managed across the Company. The Senior Analyst will play an integral role in enhancing and scaling Athene’s enterprise Operational Risk Framework, with a focus on building durable, efficient, and data-informed processes. The successful candidate will have significant visibility across functions and with senior management, requiring strong interpersonal effectiveness, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to influence and challenge constructively. Candidates must combine analytical aptitude with the leadership presences to drive change in a complex, fast-paced environment.
We are seeking candidates with 5+ years of experience in operational risk, audit, data management/ analytics, or a related risk/control discipline, ideally within insurance or financial services. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a track record of driving risk management enhancements, influencing senior stakeholders, and modernizing risk infrastructure. A flexible, problem-solving mindset and ability to anticipate emerging risks in an evolving environment are essential.
Accountabilities:
While responsibilities may vary over time, key examples include:
- Enhance incident reporting to deliver clearer insights and actionable recommendations for senior management.
- Support the evolution of Athene’s risk assessment by strengthening data gathering and analysis, engaging in workshops with executive leadership, and enhance reporting to deliver actionable recommendations.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously enhance Athene’s operational risk, process, and control register, including improving underlying taxonomies (e.g. risk categories, event types, control classification).
- Leverage data and automation tools (e.g. Excel, Tableau, GenAI platforms) to enhance risk reporting and insight generation.
- Responsible for delivering risk insights and committee materials that inform senior leadership decision-making.
- Work collaboratively with various stakeholders (e.g. Risk Owners, Audit & Sarbanes-Oxley Act SOX, Business Leads) across the Athene/ Apollo organizations to develop opportunities to improve operational excellence.
- Potential to assist and/ or help drive the enablement of AI tooling within the team or across the broader Risk Department.
- May provide mentorship to junior staff or lead aspects of risk projects/ initiatives
- Other responsibilities arising from business needs over time
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in any field of study
- 5+ years of professional experience in operational risk, audit, data analytics or related field, preferably within the banking, investments or insurance industry.
- A high level of professionalism and integrity
- Responsible, conscientious, and self-motivated with strong organizational skills
- Excelled analytical, problem-solving, and presentation skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Ability to interpret U.S. insurance accounting standards and assess their implications for operational risk management and reporting.
$72,400.00 - $108,600.00 USD Annual
Annual Salary for this role is market competitive. Actual salary for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Depending on the role, a discretionary bonus plan or variable sales incentive may be included.
