Job Summary
The Operational Excellence Project Manager plays a critical role in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of ZOLL CMS Operations. They blend technical operations knowledge, tactical project management expertise, and inspirational leadership to drive the successful identification, development, and implementation of complex cross-functional projects and enable ZOLL CMS' Lean and Continuous Improvement strategy.
Essential Functions

  • Develop comprehensive project plans outlining tasks, risks, timelines, and resource requirements for key strategic initiatives.
  • Build and leverage strong relationships across departments (e.g. R&D, Supply Chain, Quality, Support Services, etc.) utilizing technical and business expertise to align goals towards achieving a common purpose.
  • Manage the planning, execution, and delivery of complex projects involving various departments and external agencies as required.
  • Identify and assess project staffing and resource requirements and collaborate with stakeholders to secure necessary resources for successful project execution.
  • Organize and facilitate project meetings and stakeholder reviews and publish timely updates to maintain alignment on project status, risks, and upcoming actions.
  • Standardize and maintain documentation and tools for project execution, including project schedules, risk registers, progress reports, implementation plans, and project performance metrics.
  • Define and manage project scope to ensure successful delivery of operational and continuous improvement initiatives and maintain focus on key objectives.
  • Develop and execute contingency plans for proactive mitigation of key project risks.
  • Monitor and proactively manage project budgets and capital expenditures.
  • Identify, lead, and manage active change initiatives to ensure safe, smooth transitions and minimal disruption to operations while achieving strategic goals.
  • Establish and report post-launch project success metrics.
  • Coach operations staff and product teams on effective project and CI leadership/execution and champion standardized tools and communication to drive improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Manage portfolio of continuous improvement projects within Operations, taking hands-on approaches as necessary to ensure successful execution.
  • Execute and Facilitate waste-elimination and short-term CI efforts (Kaizen Events, Value Stream Mapping, etc.) as required to achieve rapid and measurable improvements in production safety, quality, throughput, yield, and costs.
  • Provide strategic leadership for Operations Continuous Improvement, Operational Excellence, and Safety programs.


Required/Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field required.
  • 5 plus years of experience in project leadership/operations engineering required.
  • Certification in Project Management, Lean Six Sigma, or other CI methodologies a plus.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with continuous improvement, process development, quality improvement, and/or cost reduction required.
  • Highly effective leadership and communication abilities, with excellent interpersonal skills to build, motivate, and lead cross-functional teams, manage stakeholders, and collaborate with external partners as required.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering results on complex projects.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing, quality control, and industrialization processes.
  • Proven ability to influence laterally and upward through relationship-building and management.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in data collection, analysis, and interpretation to drive root-cause identification, decision-making, and action.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Six Sigma principles (e.g. DMAIC, VSM, etc.) and the effective application of each.
  • High degree of creativity and comfort with ambiguity.
  • Ability to work independently to solve problems and make key decisions to ensure results without compromising on safety and quality standards.
  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g. MS Project, Jira, Confluence, etc.)
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Familiarity with the introduction and integration of operations technology (e.g. MES, IIoT, ERP) in complex environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant FDA regulations and industry standards preferred.
  • Experience managing portfolios/strategic initiatives and/or organizational transformations projects preferred.
