The Position 

FanDuel are hiring for a rare role in our Edinburgh office – an Operational Excellence Manager. This role would have the opportunity to work across all aspects of the business, leading key strategic cross-functional planning, execution and reporting of critical readiness tasks ahead of major sporting events and marquee moments!  

As an Operational Excellence Manager, you will drive and deliver the company’s strategic planning process and ongoing measurement of performance against company goals. You will be responsible for optimising processes of various business and operations teams to improve both the internal stakeholder and customer experience. This role has real impact on setting new standards for the service fans desire, but never need to ask for. 

Some of your responsibilities will include:  

  • Operational Readiness: Own and drive the creation, execution and aftercare of operational readiness playbooks ahead of major sporting events, season starts and marquee moments.  
  • Contingency Planning: Update contingency process documentation and maintain escalation contact lists for seamless issue management during events.  
  • Performance Reporting and Improvement: Report on progress against readiness playbooks and look to continuously improve the approach for event readiness through reviews of processes and playbooks, developing and measuring strategic OKRs.  
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Establish best ways of working cross functionally with the Commercial, Engineering, Product and the broader operations teams.   
  • Customer-Focused Innovation: Seek opportunities that will benefit customers to drive standardisation, automation and profitability. 
  • Risk Management: Identify areas of risk and work with relevant teams and stakeholders to detail and deliver mitigation plans.  
  • Team Leadership: Opportunity to manage or mentor more junior members on the Operational Excellence Team.  

What We’re Looking For 

  • Well-organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple projects, prioritising based on company drivers. 
  • Experience in managing complex and sensitive operational challenges with a strategic mindset that anticipates future trends. 
  • A passion for procedure, with experience of working with cross-functional teams to detail/map business processes. 
  • Be able to tell a story using data related to our operational performance and share opportunities for ways to improve against relevant metrics. 
  • Collaborative worker with strong interpersonal skills. Effective communication across all organisational levels and ability to lead cross functional meetings. 
  • Solution-oriented, able to define problem statements and drive outcomes focusing on customer experience and business objectives.

We operate a hybrid model for the majority of our roles, where we normally spend a day or two in the office per week.
