We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Sr. Managing Director/Leader of Operational Excellence to lead and optimize our manufacturing operations. This role will be responsible for ensuring our manufacturing plants produce the right products at the right time, cost, and quality to meet customer demand. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing engineering, quality management, materials management, lean manufacturing, and project portfolio management.

What Will You Do? 

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:  

Leadership and Strategy:

  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives to enhance manufacturing excellence across all plants.

  • Provide visionary leadership to foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence across centers of excellence.

  • Drive plant progression from current state to future state.

Operational Excellence:

  • Lead plant manufacturing engineering, process capabilities, and new product introduction.

  • Implement best practices in manufacturing processes and systems to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Manage capacity planning, transfers of work, and plant openings/closures.

  • Assess supply chain viability and conduct make versus buy analysis.

  • Develop and implement quality strategy for customer, manufacturing, and supplier quality.

  • Implement materials planning strategy, WIP management, and inventory control.

  • Develop waste reduction strategy and execute Kaizen initiatives for productivity improvement.

  • Drive production system development and deployment.

  • Lead demand planning for frozen schedule and 1-3 year horizon.

  • Categorize plants into silver, gold, and platinum levels of manufacturing excellence.

Collaboration and Partnership:

  • Partner closely across the Integrated Supply Chain to ensure alignment.

  • Foster strong, collaborative relationships across the organization to drive collective success.

Business Acumen:

  • Apply a high level of business acumen to understand market dynamics, customer needs, and financial impacts, ensuring that manufacturing strategies are aligned with broader business goals.

  • Think holistically about the business to make informed, strategic decisions that drive long-term success.

Functional Reporting Responsibilities:

  • Manufacturing engineering

  • Enterprise quality

  • Materials management and inventory control

  • Lean manufacturing

  • Plant SIOP/IBP

  • Enterprise project portfolio management

What Do You Need? 

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:  

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, or related field; Advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior manufacturing or supply chain leadership role within an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) environment.

  • Proven track record of driving manufacturing excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Strong knowledge of Lean methodologies and continuous improvement best practices.

  • Exceptional collaboration and partnership skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple functions and levels of the organization.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

  • High level of business acumen and strategic thinking abilities.

  • Experience with project portfolio management and strategic planning

Other Job-Related Components:

  • Ability to maneuver throughout manufacturing facilities.

  • Up to 50% travel.

Competitive Salary The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between ​$253000 - ​$320000​. Cash compensation is one piece of our competitive total rewards package. You may be eligible to participate in an incentive program, which rewards employees based on individual and organizational performance.
