Job Title

Operational Business Analyst

About your role:

Reporting to the Programme Director and/or Programme Manager, the role of Operational Readiness Business Analyst is to support client implementations, conversions and migration initiatives by assessing, documenting and coordinating the operational readiness activities required to enable a successful transition into go-live, warranty and business-as-usual.

Working closely with clients, internal Fiserv teams and third-party partners, the Operational Readiness Business Analyst helps ensure that operational processes, support models, controls, procedures, training needs and handover requirements are clearly understood, documented and aligned to the target-state solution and implementation plan.

The Operational Readiness Business Analyst is responsible for supporting readiness activities across the full project lifecycle, from initial impact assessment and readiness planning through implementation support, go-live preparation and transition to BAU. The role acts as a key link between business stakeholders, operations, service and support teams, implementation teams, product, technology and testing teams to help ensure that operational teams are prepared for change and able to support the target operating model effectively.

Within this context, the role requires a good understanding of issuing and card-processing environments, operational processes and the practical impacts of migrating from legacy platforms to modern target solutions.

What you will do:

  • Supporting the definition and coordination of the operational readiness approach in alignment with project and implementation objectives.
  • Assessing current-state and target-state operational processes to identify readiness impacts, gaps, dependencies and required changes.
  • Gathering, analysing and documenting operational readiness requirements across business, service, operations and support teams.
  • Supporting the identification of impacts to operating procedures, service models, controls, escalation paths, support processes and business continuity arrangements.
  • Producing and maintaining readiness documentation, including impact assessments, readiness trackers, process documentation, handover requirements and supporting artefacts.
  • Working closely with implementation, business analysis, product, technology, testing and operations teams to ensure that readiness activities are aligned to the broader programme plan.
  • Supporting the definition and tracking of readiness criteria for key milestones, go-live and transition to BAU.
  • Coordinating with stakeholders to ensure that process changes, support requirements, operational dependencies and handover activities are clearly understood and planned.
  • Supporting training needs assessment and readiness-related communications for impacted teams where required.
  • Identifying, analysing and resolving operational readiness queries raised by stakeholders, internal teams and third-party partners.
  • Supporting go-live preparation by ensuring that operational teams, processes and support arrangements are ready for transition.
  • Acting as a liaison between business, operations, service/support teams and project delivery teams throughout the readiness lifecycle.

Execution & Controls

  • Managing and maintaining operational readiness deliverables in accordance with established Fiserv governance, standards and project methodology.
  • Supporting the planning, prioritisation and tracking of operational readiness activities in line with project milestones, implementation phases and delivery timelines.
  • Ensuring that readiness requirements, dependencies, actions and open points are captured, tracked and progressed to closure.
  • Maintaining operational readiness trackers and supporting the assessment of readiness status across impacted teams and functions.
  • Working with stakeholders to validate readiness criteria, handover requirements and support arrangements prior to go-live.
  • Participating in governance meetings, working sessions and status reviews to provide updates on readiness progress, key issues, risks and unresolved dependencies.
  • Escalating readiness risks, gaps, blockers or delivery concerns to the appropriate stakeholders in a timely and structured manner.
  • Supporting implementation and testing activities where operational readiness input is required, including business process validation and handover readiness.
  • Supporting warranty and BAU transition planning by ensuring that support teams, processes, documentation and responsibilities are clearly defined and agreed.
  • Maintaining clear and consistent communication with clients, internal teams and third parties on operational impacts, readiness actions and transition requirements.

Closeout & Transition

  • Confirming that operational readiness requirements and agreed handover activities have been completed and transitioned appropriately into go-live, warranty and BAU support processes.
  • Supporting the completion and archiving of readiness documentation, including process updates, handover artefacts and supporting records.
  • Assisting with post-implementation reviews to assess readiness outcomes, operational issues and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensuring that outstanding readiness actions, process gaps or follow-up items are tracked through to closure or transitioned appropriately into warranty and BAU support processes.
  • Contributing to Lessons Learned activities where applicable.

Experience you’ll need to have:

  • Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in one or more of the following areas: Operational Readiness, Service Readiness, Business Process Change, Operations, Customer Servicing, Testing, Training, and BAU Handover within the Financial Services industry, in the Cards and Payments sector; experience in card and/or payment processing environments is preferred.

  • Good understanding of implementation lifecycles, go-live readiness, handover processes and transition to BAU.
  • Working knowledge of issuing, card-processing and payments operations, with an understanding of how operational requirements translate into service and support.

Experience that would be great to have:

  • Business Analysis, Change Management or Project Delivery certification preferred.
