Job Summary
The Operating Room Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals during surgical procedures. This position is responsible for preparing the operating room, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and sterile, holding retractors and assisting with patient positioning and transport. The Operating Room Assistant helps maintain a safe and clean environment, anticipate the needs of the surgical team, respond quickly to requests, and communicate effectively with all members of the healthcare staff. May assist with patient preparation, including shaving, cleaning, and draping, as well as transporting patients to and from the operating room.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures
- Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are sterile and ready
- Assist with patient positioning and transport
- Assist with retracting during procedures
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by following infection control protocols
- Dispose of waste materials according to hospital policies
- Assist surgical team as needed during procedures
- Restock supplies and equipment in operating rooms
- Communicate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other staff
- Other duties as assigned.

- Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent.
