About the Program:

The Digital Media Internship at World Resources Institute (WRI) Europe offers a unique opportunity to be an integral part of a dynamic and impact-driven communications team based in The Hague. WRI Europe is dedicated to advancing sustainable and climate solutions across Europe to create a better future for people, nature, and the planet. 

In this role, the intern will focus on digital content creation, helping elevate WRI Europe’s message through engaging and strategic social media campaigns. You will support the communications team by editing and producing short-form video content, managing assets, and amplifying our presence across social platforms. You will also help with producing and scheduling social media posts (flagship events, publications, news events) and do regular more in-depth performance analysis of posts. The intern will also assist with a special project: Communications around the 10th anniversary of WRI Europe. This is your opportunity to develop key digital communication and overall Communications skills. 

Internship Highlight:

The intern will strengthen WRI Europe’s digital presence by producing qualitative and brand-aligned video content and social media materials. The intern’s support will expand audience engagement, improve data-driven content strategy through performance monitoring, and increase capacity for multimedia storytelling. The intern will also provide important s support to help build a new website for WRI Europe.

What you will do:

The Online Communications Intern will contribute to both ongoing digital communications tasks and a defined special project. Core project components include: 

Content Creation (35%)

  • Producing and editing short-form video content and other social media materials for WRI Europe’s channels (Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube). This includes filming at events, post-production editing, designing visual assets (thumbnails, carousels, data visuals), and exploring new content formats aligned with WRI Europe’s tone and messaging. Supporting online media around the 10 years of WRI Europe event

Social Media Support (40%)

  • Supporting the maintenance of the editorial calendar, preparing and scheduling posts around key campaigns, events, and publications, analyzing performance metrics (engagement, reach, views), and assisting with community engagement. 

Special project (25%)

  • Provide support (for example, an inventory of Europe articles, online announcements and graphs), photo selection for the development of a new, semi-separate WRI Europe website. Currently, WRI Europe has a web page on WRI.org; the intent is to build a separate regional website before the end of 2026. 

The defined outcome of this internship includes a portfolio of completed multimedia assets (videos, visuals, social posts), analytics insights, and contributions to a new website. 

What you will need:

  • Must be enrolled in a study program with a Dutch university or hogeschool for the entire duration of the internship. 
  • Educational background in communications, design, media or journalism 
  • Ample experience with video editing tools, graphic design and social media production and analytics 
  • Understanding of social media language, behavior, and practices. 
  • Proficiency in English is required, including strong writing skills; additional European language(s) are a plus. 

Conditions of the internship:

  • This is a 5-6 month internship starting on 21st September 2026.
  • This internship will be based at the WRI Europe office in the Hague with some flexibility to work from home
  • This internship offers a reimbursement of 700 euros per month based on full-time working hours (32 hours per week).
