The Applications Development Senior Lead holds a critical position within the Onboarding & Implementations Services Technology senior management team. This strategic leadership role is instrumental in establishing and implementing new or enhanced application systems and programs, driving advanced applications systems analysis, and programming initiatives.

Given Onboarding Services' ambitious growth objectives over the next 3-5 years and substantial technology investments, including the Onboarding Self Initiation program, this role is paramount. It ensures the delivery of best-in-class, scalable project oversight and solution development, supporting both Operations and Front Office business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivery Leadership and Excellence: Drive delivery strategy across multiple teams, ensuring alignment with sales, trading, quant and technology roadmaps. Establish and maintain high-quality delivery metrics, reporting frameworks, and continuous improvement initiatives. Adopt a data driven approach to decision-making, prioritization, evaluation of new features to ensure alignment with business goals & stakeholder needs.
  • Resource and Budget Stewardship: Provide strategic direction and maintain stringent control over resource allocation, budget management, planning, and the rigorous monitoring of delivery outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key point of contact for senior stakeholders providing clear, concise updates on delivery status, risks, and mitigation plans. Liaise with stakeholders on an ongoing basis to understand their needs and priorities as well as proactively manage expectations, obtain buy-in, gather feedback, and resolve issues. Manage multiple global concurrent initiatives and projects of varying sizes and complexity, providing leadership and direction to the team
  • Advanced Technology Integration & Modernization: Drive the strategic consolidation and modernization of platforms and applications, ensuring alignment with 'Digital First' principles, future-state architectural goals, and the proactive integration of emerging technologies.
  • End-to-End Delivery Excellence: Oversee all aspects of staff and delivery management across critical application platforms.
  • Problem Resolution and Standards Evolution: Apply profound expertise within application development, coupled with a solid understanding of broader technological domains, to resolve complex issues and contribute to the definition and evolution of technical standards and best practices.
  • Cross-Team Coordination: Manage inter-team dependencies, risks, and resource planning across multiple workstreams.  Track and analyze the usage and performance of features post-implementation, optimizing for user experience and business impact.
  • Application Risk & Controls Management: Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of progressive senior development management experience, including leading teams of managers responsible for local and remote application development, project management, business analysis, and quality assurance.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality, efficient, and maintainable code using Java, Angular, Microservices, Mongo and React to solve complex business problems
  • Strong understanding of end to end Client Onboarding processes such as Account Opening, Account Maintenance, KYC, Sanction Screening.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence senior stakeholders
  • Extensive experience in collaboration and delivery of technology solutions on the Digital Platform including Client facing portals.
  • Proficiency in enterprise-grade languages like Java, JavaScript, with a focus on scalable and resilient software design.
  • Good understanding of hyperscale cloud platforms, Kubernetes, serverless computing, and designing/implementing robust microservices.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency in leveraging AI technologies within application development (Devin, Copilot, Claude, Delphyne etc.).

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master’s degree preferred
