Job Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Director of Internal Communications to serve as a strategic advisor to senior leaders across the Americas region. This role is pivotal in shaping and executing colleague communications and engagement strategies that align with Oliver Wyman’s business goals and culture. The ideal candidate will bring 15+ years of experience working closely with senior executives, with a proven ability to influence, communicate, and embed organizational values deeply across a complex and dynamic environment.
This is a hybrid role that will require 3 days per week in the office. There is no option to be fully remote.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic internal communications and change management advisor to senior leaders across the Americas region. Responsible for shaping and executing colleague communications and engagement strategies in the Americas customized by audience that align with our business goals and culture.
Responsibility breakdown:
80% time allocation to Americas Region
20% time allocation to Global Internal Communications initiatives
Key responsibilities for Americas Region Internal Communications (80%)
Develop and drive an internal comms strategy for the Americas region: Conduct an audit of current communications approaches including audience segmentation and channel strategy. Develop an integrated and updated communications plan, socialize with key leaders, and execute. Overtime, improve as needed.
Craft leadership communications and guide engagement strategy across key Americas comms touchpoints including: ghost-writing, slide-writing, and/or key message development for Region leader(s) for key colleague touchpoints such as Town Halls, Partner Calls, all colleague in-person office sessions, internal social media, and other channels.
Lead change management and crisis communications:
Lead Americas-specific communication, change-management, and activation on global firm priorities such as AI adoption and embedding of firm’s strategy and values.
Collaborate with Marketing and Global Brand Center to help drive colleague engagement and education to embed the new Oliver Wyman brand identity, ensuring colleagues understand and embrace the refreshed brand positioning, voice, and visual identity.
Advise leaders on crisis communication approaches, in collaboration with Oliver Wyman’s global internal communications team and Marsh corporate internal communications team.
Provide advisory support on internal comms strategies to broader leaders in the Americas Region:
Work closely with the Culture Strategy and Colleague Engagement leader, practice leaders, function leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure integrated and aligned communication and colleague engagement efforts.
Develop a toolkit of communication best practices to teach and guide Americas Practices leaders and their teams on their intra-practice communications.
Drive continuous improvement and efficiency through measurement and AI: Establish a set of KPIs, a metrics dashboard and feedback mechanisms to assess engagement levels and the impact of initiatives, using data to refine approaches and demonstrate value. Drive efficiency through innovation and AI tools.
Leadership Presence and People Management: Represent the firm’s commitment to effective internal communications and colleague engagement at senior leadership forums and regional meetings, acting as a trusted advisor and influencer. Oversee one direct report: Manager, Internal Communications based in New York City.
Key responsibilities for Global Internal Communications (20%)
Serve as a senior leader within the global internal communication team, helping to mentor other colleagues and drive a handful key global initiatives. These may include:
Internal Comms point person for global OW Technology Function: Develop and drive an internal comms strategy for the global Tech function and act as a strategic communications advisor to the global CIO.
Alumni Strategy: Collaborate with Oliver Wyman’s global Alumni team and Americas leaders to develop an Americas-specific Alumni engagement strategy, focusing on internal culture shift and change-management that results in strong connectivity to Alumni in the region.
Launch pilot of Careers Office / Outplacement: Collaborate with Oliver Wyman’s global Alumni team, Human Capital and Recruiting teams to launch a pilot of a Careers Office / Outplacement program in the Americas to provide greater support to colleagues transitioning into the Alumni community.
Qualifications
15+ years of progressive experience in internal communications, marketing, colleague engagement, organizational development, or related fields, preferably within professional services or consulting firms.
Demonstrated success working with senior-level executives as a strategic advisor.
Strong expertise in designing and executing engagement strategies that drive cultural alignment and business results.
Exceptional strategic communication skills, with the ability to craft and deliver clear, persuasive messages to diverse audiences.
Proven change management experience and the ability to lead complex initiatives across multiple locations.
Data-driven mindset with experience using engagement metrics and insights to inform strategy.
Collaborative, empathetic leadership style with strong influencing and stakeholder management capabilities.
Open to occasional travel within North America to support regional engagement activities and leadership meetings.
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
The applicable base salary range for this role is $155,000 to $225,000.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
