Job Overview

Oliver Wyman’s Property & Casualty Actuarial practice is currently seeking talent to support our growing consulting practice. This position requires the candidate to work as part of a team of professionals to independently analyze complex problems and develop workable solutions.  The candidate will achieve significant interaction and visibility with Oliver Wyman’s clients, which include large corporations, captive insurance companies, public entities, and healthcare providers.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist in actuarial projects with a focus on reserving, pricing and economic capital modeling for captive insurance companies having primarily Professional Liability exposures as well as corporate clients with predominantly workers compensation exposures

  • Assist with loss reserving, ratemaking/pricing, and predictive modeling projects for a variety of commercial property and casualty lines of business

  • Organize and analyze large volumes of data, ensuring integrity and accuracy

  • Apply complex actuarial theories and principles to create statistical models

  • Setup spreadsheet analysis, templates, and exhibits

  • Prepare production exhibits and written reports to present findings

  • Attend client meetings as required

  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and presentations for prospects

  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; strong oral and written communications skills

  • Ability to develop client-oriented solutions

  • Ability to manage a heavy work volume and meet deadlines in an extremely fast paced environment

  • Ability to undertake projects and produce quality and timely results

  • Self-starter, strong initiative, confidence and ability to work with little guidance

  • Collaborative team player

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, business or related field

  • Loss reserving experience preferred

  • Capital modeling experience desirable, but not necessary

  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Programming experience highly desired
