Could you be our next OIPA Configurator III? Globe Life is looking for an OIPA Configurator III to join the team!
This role is responsible for configuring and maintaining the Oracle Insurance Policy Administration (OIPA) system in support of life and accident insurance products. The position partners with business and technical stakeholders to evaluate complex requirements and deliver OIPA configuration solutions across new implementations, enhancements, and production support. It directs the application of configuration principles, guides the development of new policies and best practices, and advises others on complex matters while leading configurators during key project phases.
This is a hybrid position located in McKinney, TX. (WFH Monday & Friday, In Office Tuesday–Thursday).
What You Will Do:
- Review and interpret architectural and technical design documents to independently develop complex OIPA transactions and processes, applying best practice configuration techniques with full autonomy and extensive latitude for judgment.
- Evaluate specifications for complex business requirements and processes (new, enhancements, and maintenance) and develop technical solutions and supporting documentation using advanced, wide-ranging OIPA expertise.
- Develop AsFile, Real-time, and Push integration services; research and evaluate system capabilities for integrating product, service, and technical solutions to enable business partners.
- Perform functional gap analysis, review and contribute to design documentation, and participate in design reviews, exercising independent judgment in selecting and adapting complex configuration techniques.
- Design logical queries to facilitate calculations, reporting, and complex formulas using entity-based logical modeling and data throughput optimization.
- Develop Technical Design Documents and prepare complex design diagrams, directing the application of existing principles and guiding the development of new configuration policies and standards.
- Lead other configurators during select phases of projects and production support, providing tactical guidance and being accountable through the team for delivery of business targets.
- Perform code reviews and work with peers across disciplines to identify standardization opportunities, adapting style and using persuasion to deliver messages aligned to wider business objectives.
- Train and mentor other team members, frequently advising on complex configuration matters to build team capability and consistency.
- Research, identify, and correct defects, ensuring defects attributed to assigned tasks do not exceed 15% of the original work completed.
What You Can Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field — or equivalent experience.
- Bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of OIPA configuration experience; or a Master's with 6 years; or a PhD with 3 years — subject to department review.
- A minimum of 8,000 hours (~4 years) of hands-on OIPA configuration experience on life or health insurance products using OIPA V10 or V11.
- Strong knowledge of life and health insurance products across individual, group, and worksite markets, including core business functions such as underwriting, policy issue, billing, payment processing, claims, nonforfeiture, lapse, disbursements, state reporting, and policy servicing.
- LOMA certification preferred.
- Advanced XSLT and OIPA configuration expertise, including deep knowledge of OIPA database schema, relational objects, entity-based logical modeling, data throughput optimization, and REST services.
- Knowledge of OIPA interface configuration and Oracle SOA/BPM across cross-disciplinary technical relationships — Oracle SOA/BPM experience is a plus.
- Ability to independently define methods on new assignments and contribute to configuration policies and best practices.
- Effective collaborator across teams; aligns business intent with system behavior.
- Comfortable in Agile environments; provides accurate estimates, meets deadlines, maintains project artifacts, and proactively communicates risks to project and program management.
