Job Title: Officer, Marketing & Events (EN-7)

Organizational Unit: Communications
Reports To: Chief Communications Officer
Supervises: This position does not supervise staff.

Location: Equality Now is a remote organization. This position has a strong preference for candidates based in Bulgaria or Portugal.

MISSION OBJECTIVE:

To expand Equality Now's reach and strengthen relationships with priority audiences through effective marketing, events and external engagement. Working across Communications, Development and Advocacy, the role helps translate organisational priorities into compelling audience experiences and clear pathways for involvement that support advocacy, fundraising and long-term engagement.

PORTFOLIO OVERVIEW:

Officer, Marketing & Events sits within Equality Now's worldwide Communications Team. The portfolio covers major events and convenings, including the annual Gala; multi-channel marketing and audience acquisition; ambassador and talent stewardship; corporate, cultural and professional partnerships; and the promotion of strategic campaigns, products and knowledge.

The role also maintains audience and event data, supports CRM-based follow-up and cross-team hand-offs, and uses engagement data to improve future activity. It has a particular focus on growing and diversifying Equality Now's audiences, including the new and 'unusual suspect' audiences identified in the organisational strategy.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Purpose: Coordinates Connected Workflows

Marketing campaigns

  • Deliver marketing activity that supports the acquisition and deeper engagement of priority audiences, including Equality Now's Professionals Network, prospective funders, corporate audiences, senior decision-makers and other high-value supporters agreed with Development and Advocacy colleagues.
  • Help grow Equality Now's total addressable audience by identifying practical ways to reach people beyond our existing supporter base, particularly the 'unusual suspect' audiences prioritised in the organisational strategy across paid advertising, social acquisition, email, events, partnerships, external platforms and other appropriate channels, working within agreed campaign objectives, audiences and budgets.
  • Support the marketing and audience development of the Equal Justice Academy, working with relevant programme, Digital and Communications colleagues to increase awareness, participation and ongoing use.
  • Work with Digital, Advocacy Communications and Production colleagues to ensure Equality Now's knowledge products are packaged, promoted and distributed to the audiences most likely to use, share or act on them.
  • Help connect launches, knowledge products, events, partnerships and campaigns into coherent audience journeys rather than one-off moments, ensuring there is a clear next action for priority audiences.

Audience Data and Relationship Management

  • Maintain accurate and useful audience, stakeholder, ambassador and event data in Equality Now's CRM and agreed planning systems, ensuring records are current, appropriately segmented and usable across teams.
  • Build a practical understanding of who is in Equality Now's audience database, how different groups are engaging, where there are gaps and which contacts may be ready for deeper Development, Advocacy, partnership or ambassador engagement.
  • Work closely with Development, Advocacy and Communications colleagues to clarify relationship ownership, audience segments and appropriate outreach pathways so teams understand which contacts sit within their portfolios and where cross-team opportunities exist.
  • Ensure new contacts generated through events, campaigns, partnerships and external engagement are captured promptly and routed into appropriate supporter or stakeholder journeys.

Monitoring, Learning and Data Management

  • Maintain agreed KPI trackers and compile regular reporting on event attendance, audience acquisition, engagement, conversion, relationship progression, campaign performance and other agreed indicators.
  • Use campaign, event and CRM data to identify clear patterns, gaps and practical opportunities to improve targeting, follow-up, audience journeys and future activity.
  • Gather qualitative feedback from events, partners, ambassadors and priority audiences and feed useful learning into future planning.
  • Support good data-management and data-protection practice and ensure stakeholder, participant and talent information is handled appropriately.

  • Provide day-to-day coordination of Equality Now's ambassador and talent programme, maintaining accurate lists, relationship histories, interests, availability and previous engagement so that suitable people can be identified quickly for events, campaigns, speaking opportunities and advocacy moments.
  • Act as a consistent relationship point for agreed ambassadors and talent, coordinating communications, opportunities, briefings and follow-up and helping create clear pathways for people to deepen or broaden their involvement with Equality Now.

Strategic Partnerships

  • Research and coordinate agreed corporate brand, cultural and organisational partnership opportunities that can expand Equality Now's audience, strengthen campaigns or create new routes into high-value supporter and stakeholder groups.
  • Prepare concise background information, partnership materials and activation plans for review by the relevant manager, with strategic negotiation, major commitments and high-risk decisions retained by senior colleagues.

What We Do

For 30 years, Equality Now has been using the law to create a just world for women and girls. We use a unique combination of legal advocacy, regional partnership-building, and community mobilization to realize our vision of a more just and equal world for women and girls. We are coalition builders, system disruptors, and unapologetic feminists who know that the only way to achieve substantial equality is through structural change and addressing the root causes of oppression. Our global network of lawyers, activists, and supporters holds governments responsible for their international obligation to prohibit all forms of violence and discrimination against women. The law is a powerful tool that can either perpetuate inequality or combat it. At Equality Now, we work around the clock to ensure that it does the latter.
