This position exists to provide customer and administrative services for the Admissions Office to students, faculty and staff. They must follow existing policy and procedures in providing solutions and answers to questions. Based on thousands of contacts with students, will make recommendations and changes to office policy and procedures to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency in serving students.
Salary Range: $21.12 to $28.01 per hour
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of customer service practices and principles sufficient to identify each customer’s needs, meet quality standards for services, that result in customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of communications sufficient to Communicate effectively with internal and external customers and present clear and concise explanations of governing rules and regulations in a manner that is understandable
- Knowledge of standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets, and databases sufficient to create, modify, and protect files
- Knowledge of document and/or records management systems sufficient to store, categorize, and retrieve electronic files
- Ability to learn how to establish, maintain, and use electronic databases
Physical Requirements
The essential physical functions of this position must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Ability to work in a seated or standing position for extended periods of time
- Ability to use a keyboard for extended periods of time which may include repetitive motion
Preferred Qualifications (desired but not expected to have to enter job)
- Experience with higher education course information, application processes, testing procedures, transfer of credit procedures, or orientation/registration processes.
- Thorough understanding of federal and state regulations, and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA)
- Ability to organize, multiple tasks, initiate action and work independently.
- Ability to perceive customer needs and assist or refer to appropriate resources.
- Bilingual/multilingual in Spanish, Somali, French, Hmong, or other languages that reflect our student body, workforce, and communities.
Other Requirements
In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (Minnesota State) Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State’s vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
