SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Responsible for providing product marketing and analysis support, and special project management. Gathers new standard OEM product ideas as well as customer defined products and evaluates their potential and practicality. Participates in the initial stages of product planning and development, including financial, engineering and manufacturing issues. Assists with preparations and works trade shows as well as performs other marketing and sales functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMED
1. Works with OEM customers to increase the ability of Merit to understand and meet specific customer needs by:
a. Identifying problems not met by existing products.
b. Discussing possible changes in product specifications based upon the unique needs of an individual customer.
c. Coordinating with OEM and corporate staff to identify customers with possible customized needs.
d. Working with manufacturing staff to confirm pricing parameters for products.
2. Works with customers in coordinating Market Research by:
a. Identifying opportunities for adding accessories or improving product operation.
b. Gathering information about product performance by observation of procedures, questionnaires, interviews and face-to-face discussions.
c. Explaining product improvement needs to Engineering and Manufacturing staff.
d. Evaluating overall product effectiveness and market potential.
3. Evaluates new product potential by:
a. Researching and analyzing the existing market and the products being manufactured by competing companies.
b. Forecasting sales of products within existing and potential markets.
c. Assessing the ability of products to meet current and potential needs.
4. Participates in the initial stages of product planning and development, including financial, engineering and manufacturing issues.
5. Assists with preparing and writing brochures and sales materials.
6. May prepare a variety of sales and marketing forecasts.
7. Exercises judgment in project management for high priority projects and assignments.
8. Performs other product management and marketing tasks, as needed.

SUMMARY OF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Engineering or related field.
• Work related experience equivalent to three years of product management, engineering, manufacturing, and/or appropriate sales experience.
• Experience in the medical device field preferred.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple, large and high priority projects efficiently and effectively and to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
• Good organizational skills and the ability to conduct and/or supervise the development process in an organized and methodical manner.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to act as a team leader while supervising OEM's efforts as related to high priority projects.
• Knowledge of various computer software programs.
• Excellent presentation skills and the ability to prepare professional written and oral presentations and market analysis.
• Excellent market research skills and the ability to report research findings with high degrees of validity and reliability.
• Demonstrated computer skills preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database and other applicable software programs.
