Job DescriptionThe Ocean Services Manager is responsible for leading and developing the district's Ocean Freight Services product while driving operational excellence, financial performance, productivity, and employee development. This role works closely with branch leadership, sales, and product teams to support business growth, enhance customer satisfaction, and ensure compliance with company standards and procedures.
As the Ocean Services Manager, you will:
- Lead and develop the Ocean Freight Services department, ensuring organizational flexibility, scalability, and operational excellence.
- Prepare, execute, monitor, and regularly update department business plans and strategic objectives.
- Drive departmental productivity and service performance through effective leadership and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Review and support ocean freight quotations, local charges, and agreement pricing to maximize profitability and minimize risk.
- Maintain a strong understanding of end-to-end ocean freight operations, including import and export services across FCL and LCL products.
- Conduct regular department meetings to review market intelligence, industry trends, performance metrics, and business opportunities.
- Collaborate with branch leadership and sales teams to support customer retention, business development, and account growth.
- Lead the implementation of new systems, processes, and technology enhancements within the department.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and support district-wide productivity initiatives.
- Ensure accurate financial management, reporting, and accountability within the department.
- Partner with Trade Compliance and other stakeholders to support regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers, trucking providers, vendors, and key business partners.
- Conduct performance reviews, coaching sessions, and development planning to strengthen team capability and succession readiness.

- University degree or equivalent business experience.
- Minimum 10 years of industry experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role within ocean freight forwarding or a related logistics environment.
- Strong knowledge of international ocean freight operations, including import and export processes, FCL, LCL, carrier management, and pricing.
- Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence, productivity improvements, and business growth.
