Job Description: Surveillance Observer

As a Surveillance Observer, you serve as an independent oversight representative for both management and guests, ensuring the integrity, security, and regulatory compliance of all casino operations. You will monitor gaming activities, the casino floor, cage operations, food and beverage outlets, and all surveillance camera systems covering exterior areas and back-of-house operations. You will document daily activities, incidents, policy violations, and suspicious behavior, and promptly report findings to Surveillance Management. In this role, you will help safeguard company assets, protect guests and team members, and ensure compliance with all applicable gaming regulations, company policies, and internal controls.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Protect the Company's assets, reputation, and best interests at all times.
  • Continuously monitor gaming operations, casino floor activity, cage transactions, food and beverage outlets, and all designated surveillance areas.
  • Review recorded and live surveillance footage to investigate incidents, disputes, suspicious activities, and other matters as assigned.
  • Detect, document, and report violations of company policies, internal controls, and applicable gaming regulations.
  • Exercise sound judgment and maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive information and investigations.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
  • Maintain exceptional attention to detail and observational skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prepare accurate, thorough, and timely written reports and logs for Surveillance Management.
  • Communicate observations, concerns, violations, and operational issues promptly to the appropriate manager.
  • Remain flexible and perform additional duties or special assignments as operational needs require.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all applicable company policies, departmental procedures, internal controls, and gaming regulations.
  • Foster open and effective communication with management and other departments.
  • Maintain a positive, professional demeanor in all interactions with guests, team members, regulatory agencies, and vendors.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with federal, state, local, and tribal gaming laws and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience operating digital surveillance systems is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of gaming rules, regulations, and common cheating methods is required.
  • Working knowledge of table games, slot operations, and casino procedures is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to recognize unusual behavior, suspicious activity, and abnormal body language.
  • Ability to remain calm, focused, and professional in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to interact effectively with team members, management, regulatory agencies, and law enforcement, when necessary.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including data entry and report writing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment at all times.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime, as business needs require.
  • Must maintain professional boundaries and comply with all departmental confidentiality and conflict-of-interest policies.
  • To preserve operational integrity, employees assigned to Surveillance must adhere to all departmental access and anonymity requirements.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in an environment that may include exposure to secondhand smoke, high noise levels, bright lights, and dust.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and remain attentive for extended periods while monitoring surveillance systems.
  • Must possess visual acuity sufficient to identify details on multiple monitors simultaneously.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all required gaming licenses, registrations, and work cards, including:
    • Gaming Registration

  • Video and audio surveillance systems

  • Microsoft Office
  • Avigilon Control Center
  • Digital Watchdog surveillance systems and software
  • Bosch camera controllers
  • Motorola Solutions two-way radios

This position is subject to all applicable gaming laws, regulations, internal controls, and company policies. Continued employment is contingent upon maintaining all required licenses and certifications.
