POSITION SUMMARY:

The YMCA of Southern Nevada is looking for a Preschool Director to join our team. This position manages operations of the YMCA preschool at one location, overseeing two preschool classrooms for students ages 3-5 years old.

This is a full-time in person-position located at the YMCA of Southern Nevada.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1.  Administers activities related to the department.
  2.  Oversees the implementation of the preschool curriculum, ensuring alignment with the Nevada Pre-K Standards, HighScope Curriculum, and all applicable grant requirements while maintaining program quality and compliance.
  3.  Develops, monitors, and manages the department budget, making necessary adjustments throughout the fiscal year to ensure financial goals and budget targets are met.
  4. Tracks and analyzes key performance indicators (KPIs), including enrollment, revenue, staffing, attendance, and program outcomes, and implements action plans to achieve organizational goals.
  5. Ensures compliance with all Nevada Ready! (NVR) grant requirements, including program implementation, documentation, reporting, and fiscal accountability.
  6. Supervises, coaches, and trains department staff to ensure high-quality program delivery and professional development.
  7. Maintains the state preschool license and all required documentation necessary for program operation and regulatory compliance.
  8. Processes incoming program registrations and follows up on parent inquiries via voicemail, email, fax, and/or in person within 24 hours of receipt.
  9. Maintains accurate records and prepares and submits reports requested by the supervisor in a timely manner.
  10. Assists in tracking program invoices and collects outstanding balances.
  11. Reviews and evaluates department enrollment, programs, services, and financial performance, communicating findings and recommendations to the Association Director.
  12. Reviews the effectiveness of department personnel through regular observation, coaching, and performance evaluations.
  13. Promotes and implements character development throughout curriculum, staff training, and daily program operations.
  14. Builds and maintains a high standard of customer service and positive relationships with children, families, staff, and community partners.
  15. Contributes to a positive, collaborative, and professional work environment.
  16. Performs all other duties as assigned.

ABUSE RISK MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS

  • Follow employee and volunteer screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk.
  • Provide employees and volunteers with on-going supervision and training related to abuse risk.
  • Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with youth.
  • Require employees and volunteers to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse.
  • Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations using the organization’s progressive disciplinary procedures.
  • Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors. Follows mandated reporting requirements.
  • Communicate to all employees and volunteers the organization’s commitment to protect their consumers from abuse.
  • Report essential abuse risk management information to your supervisor, executive director, or human resources.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 15 units in ECE and/or two years related experience and/or training.  Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). 
  • Experience using child care management software (Daxko, Procare, or similar systems preferred).
  • Experience in maintaining electronic child and staff records.
  • Ability to analyze program data, develop reports, and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Ability to learn and utilize state licensing and grant reporting systems.
  • American Red Cross CPR/ First Aid for Professional Rescuers Certification within 30 days of hire. 
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 15 units in ECE and/or two years related experience and/or training.  Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). 
  • Experience using child care management software (Daxko, Procare, or similar systems preferred).
