Nutanix, UCS SME/ Sr Engineer

What success looks like in this role:

• Own Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI): Deploy, configure, upgrade, patch and remediate Cisco UCS (UCS Manager/Central, service profiles/templates) and Nutanix Acropolis (AHV/ESXi/Hyper-V), using Prism for VM lifecycle, performance monitoring, and capacity planning.

• VMware Administration: Build and maintain vSphere (ESX/ESXi 6.x), perform capacity planning, deploy VMs/OVAs from templates, execute P2V/V2V migrations, and manage backup/restore and host/VM Tools patching.

• Windows Server Engineering: Install, configure, harden, and support Windows Server (2008–2019); perform performance tuning and memory-dump analysis; manage clustering (Failover/SQL), and core services (FTP, TCP/IP, RDS); ensure licensing compliance.

• Active Directory Operations: Administer multi-domain AD (2008–2019), including sites/services, replication, FSMO role management, GPO design/troubleshooting, metadata cleanup, domain controller placement, and account-lockout investigations.

• Resiliency & DR: Design and validate backups/DR, host & VM availability, and dynamic scheduling/HA to meet recovery and uptime targets.

• ITIL-Aligned Service Delivery: Execute and improve Incident, Problem, and Change processes; create CRQs, perform impact/risk assessments, and deliver RCAs while meeting SLAs.

• Documentation & Standards: Create/update runbooks, build guides, topology/CM documentation, and operational procedures; maintain configuration standards.

• Customer Engagement: Serve as a senior point of contact; communicate clearly with customers and cross-functional teams; provide status, advisories, and escalation management.

• 24×7 Operations: Participate in shift/on-call rotations (24×7×365), and perform maintenance during approved windows.

• Security & Compliance: Apply OS/hypervisor patches, AV, and vulnerability remediations; enforce server hardening baselines and audit readiness across Windows/VMware/HCI.

• Automation & Scripting: Use PowerShell (and/or VBScript) to automate builds, patching, reporting, and configuration drift remediation; contribute to CI/CD style infra workflows.

• UCS Hardware Builds: Set up Cisco UCS 6200-series Fabric Interconnects and blade chassis as needed.

• PKI Awareness: Support certificates/PKI-related tasks for Windows/VMware/infra services.

• Time-Zone Flexibility: Align support hours to customer PT workday when required.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8-10 years domain environment experience.
• Recommended Certifications: Microsoft - MCSE, VMware - (VCP) and/or vendor related Nutanix, Cisco UCS or Dell EMC VxRail.
