This positions Responsibilities are split over two areas: Skills Lab Support and Simulation Support. This position requires availability prior to semester courses beginning and post semester in order to:
Skills Lab Support
Assist in preparing the nursing skills lab for scheduled activities, including setting up equipment, maintaining a clean and organized learning environment, and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
Provide guidance and support to undergraduate students during open nursing skills sessions (e.g., medication administration, wound care, patient assessments).
Observe and evaluate students’ clinical skill performance using programmatic provided rubric, offering feedback and constructive suggestions for improvement under faculty supervision.
Simulation Support
Prepare for the high-fidelity simulation scenarios during the scheduled day, including equipment setup, role-playing, pre-briefing, and orientation of the lab and mannequin equipment.
Operate technology and mannequins during student simulations to ensure smooth execution of scenarios, providing a rich, realistic experience for student nurses.
Participate in debriefing sessions to help students reflect on their performance and enhance their critical thinking and clinical judgment skills.
Enrollment in a graduate-level nursing program (Master’s or Doctoral level) at Maryville University.
Active, unencumbered Missouri Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Strong understanding of foundational nursing skills and clinical competencies.
Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations in a collaborative environment.
Previous experience in a nursing education setting, such as teaching, precepting, or mentoring.
Familiarity with nursing simulation technology and equipment (e.g., high-fidelity mannequins, audiovisual tools).
- May need to move/lift mannequins and other simulation technology
- Lift 20-30lbs using proper body mechanics
- Strong critical thinking skills preferred
- Good at solving problems
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Tuition Award: 6 credit hours for the academic year
