General Schedule

Position typically works Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm in-office at UCO's main campus in Edmond, Oklahoma. 

Position Overview and Job Duties:

Provide administrative and clerical support for the Fast Track, LPN/Medic/Paramedic to BS Track and Graduate Program. Work in conjunction with the coordinators of each track or program to facilitate activities related to admission, progression, and graduation including onboarding and tracking students. Job duties to include:

  • Assist students with issues regarding admission and enrollment in coordination with the Nursing Academic Advisors and the Graduate Admissions Specialists at the Jackson College of Graduate Studies.
  • Assist coordinators in reviewing applications, verifying required documents, and updating student records in the nursing shared folder and the corresponding Nursing Hub.
  • Build and maintain spreadsheets and other records to facilitate tracking of current and potential students. 
  • Collect and maintain confidential records.
  • Assist with data collection for School of Nursing assessment and accreditation activities.
  • Work within the learning management system to maintain students in the Fast Track, LPN/Medic/Paramedic to BS, and Graduate Hubs.
  • Facilitate communication between coordinators, students, and faculty members. 
  • Assist with scheduling of student activities and meetings for assigned tracks and programs. 
  • Create courses within the testing software platform for the School of Nursing.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director or Assistant Director of the School of Nursing.

The College of Mathematics and Science currently has 129 full-time and over 70 part-time faculty in 5 academic departments and the Schools of Engineering and Nursing. Accreditation/Certification is held by ABET, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the American Board of Funeral Service Education, and the American Chemical Society. Qualifications Required:

Bachelor’s degree in job related field plus 3+ years of work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications Preferred:

Three or more years of experience in an office setting. Work experience in a higher education setting. Knowledge/experience of healthcare or nursing education.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Must be computer literate in the use of relevant software applications (word processing, spreadsheets, database management). Excellent telephone etiquette, communication (written and oral), organizational and public relations skills. Ability to work well with others, operate office equipment, multi-task, and give attention to detail. Demonstrate a warm and caring professional service-oriented attitude. Ability to maintain confidentiality, work well in busy and stressful situations, and listen and synthesize directives. Must be self-motivated.
