SCOPE OF PRACTICE: 

An Administrative Supervisor is a Registered Nurse who works with a diverse group of professionals and functions within the Nursing Organizational structure. The Administrative Supervisor is involved in every aspect of the care delivery system. He/She has responsibilities to plan, direct, control, coordinate and implement policies and procedures, and/or programs relative to unit operations and nursing services.   The Administrative Supervisor is responsible for management of assigned unit(s) off tours, acts as an Administrative liaison between Administrator on-call and the staff; related to nursing service problems on assigned weekends, holidays and off tours.

1.  Effectively directs the daily operations of the Nursing Department on respective

tour and monitors nursing practices that would maintain departmental goals and

3. Appropriately allocates and schedules staff within available resources to carry out

the responsibilities of the units within the assigned shift.

implement/facilitate appropriate solutions in collaboration with Nursing

Directors and the staffing office personnel.

 

 

 

7. Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing activities with

Nursing Administration, and other disciplines.

 

 

 

8. Collaborates with Nursing Directors in developing and evaluating nursing

personnel/on assigned tour.

  1. Education Required: Graduate of accredited school of Nursing.

                                                             Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred.

Master’s degree in Nursing or closely related degree preferred.

  1. License(s) Required: Licensed and currently registered as a professional nurse in New York

State.

  1. Experience/Skills Minimum of three (3) years nursing experience including one year in a leadership

Required:                              position.   Course in Nursing specialty and supervision.  Demonstrated competence as a nursing practitioner.  BLS, ACLS, are required certification within (3) months of employment.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:            Thirty-seven and a half hours (37 ½) per week; with flexible hours as assigned.
