Unit NURSE MANAGER (RN/LPN) 

Woodward Hills Health & Rehabilitation Center

 

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Nurse Manager assumes 24 hour per day responsibility and accountability for the nursing care of all residents on an assigned unit.  Supervises licensed nurses and other nursing personnel in the delivery of care and services according to each resident’s comprehensive resident assessment and plan of care.  Manages unit in accord with facility philosophy, in compliance with standards of professional nursing practice, and with all State and Federal rules and regulations.  Utilizes resources in an efficient and economic manner to ensure that each resident achieves the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well being. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS 

EDUCATION: 

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. 

 

LICENSE: 

Current, active license as a Registered Nurse or Licensed practical Nurse in the State of Michigan.  Must have no restrictions on license. 

 

EXPERIENCE: 

Two years experience providing direct care to residents in long term care setting preferred.  Prior experience as unit Charge Nurse or similar supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. 

 

Successful performance of this job classification can best be achieved through consistent application of current knowledge, use of good judgement, common sense, ability to establish and carry out priorities, effective use of interpersonal skills and ongoing communication with residents, staff, families, interdisciplinary team members and government officials including State surveyors and ombudsmen.  Must meet all performance standards as described in the job description.
