Nexus Children’s Hospital – Dallas is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse leader to join our team as a Nurse Manager.

This is an opportunity for a hands-on nursing leader to oversee a specialized clinical team caring for children and adolescents with complex medical, behavioral, and neurodevelopmental needs. The Nurse Manager provides clinical and operational leadership for the assigned unit while working closely with nursing, physicians, therapy, behavioral health, and hospital leadership.

What You'll Do

The Nurse Manager provides 24/7 leadership accountability and operational oversight for nursing services within the assigned unit.

  • Lead daily nursing operations while ensuring appropriate staffing, resources, and safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance management for nursing staff.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary care with physicians, therapists, behavioral health professionals, and other clinical teams.
  • Ensure nursing interventions follow evidence-based practices for pediatric, neurodevelopmental, medical, and behavioral health populations.
  • Promote trauma-informed, patient-centered care that respects each patient's developmental level, individual needs, and family involvement.
  • Support staff in managing complex behavioral situations through effective crisis intervention and de-escalation practices.
  • Establish and monitor clinical competencies and ongoing staff education.
  • Implement team-based care models to improve patient outcomes and staff effectiveness.
  • Monitor clinical performance indicators and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, and patient outcomes.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives focused on patient safety, infection prevention, and behavioral health protocols.
  • Ensure clinical documentation and departmental practices meet regulatory, accreditation, and organizational requirements.
  • Address patient and family concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Manage departmental resources and expenditures while maintaining high standards of patient care.
  • Partner with hospital leadership on staffing, operational priorities, quality initiatives, and strategic planning.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, professional development, and continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing leadership experience required
  • Experience in pediatrics, behavioral health, neurodevelopmental care, rehabilitation, or other complex-care environments strongly preferred

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas required
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
  • ACLS certification required per unit requirements
  • PALS certification required per unit requirements
  • Certified Nurse Manager and Leader (CNML) or equivalent preferred
  • De-escalation training must be completed within 30 days of hire
