As the Infection Preventionist, you will collect and analyze data, maintains infection control practices and reporting of infections as well as maintaining Antibiotic Stewardship practices. This role will foster a positive, supportive environment for residents, families, and team members. The Nurse Infection Preventionist is responsible for the development and implementation of on-going educational programs for the Nursing Department at Acacia Health Center.

Who you are:

  1. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Current Arizona RN license required. 
    1. Two years of leadership or training and development experience in skilled nursing, hospital, or long-term care environment required.
    2. Wound certification preferred. 
  2. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
  3. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Basic mathematical skills required.
  4. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to understand, follow and support established policies and procedures of the facility; ability to recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately; ability to plan, organize and prioritize assignments efficiently; ability to work effectively with minimum supervision; ability to adapt teaching to the situation and diversity of learners.
  5. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Current CPR/BLS certification. 
    1. Computer literacy requirred. 
    2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 
    3. Leadership and teaching skills required. 
    4. Understanding and empathy of the uniqueness of the needs of the elderly required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting; must be able to stand/walk for up to 70% of the workday; must be able to lift, transfer, turn and position residents weighing up to 125 lbs. unassisted, or with the assistance of one for a resident weighing over 125 lbs.
  • May be subjected to offensive odors and combative behavior.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • May be exposed to communicable diseases including the HIV and HBV viruses.
  • Must be able to work with frequent interruptions while still paying close attention to detail. 
  • Ability to move throughout the community promptly, especially in emergency situations.
  • Flu vaccine required.
