Job DescriptionWe're looking for a compassionate and detail-oriented Nurse Assistant to join our healthcare team in Detroit, United States. In this vital role, you'll work under the supervision of Registered Nurses to provide essential patient care support in a dynamic healthcare environment. - Provide direct patient care assistance under the direction of the responsible Registered Nurse, including bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, mobility support, and comfort measures
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges while maintaining a welcoming and supportive demeanor
- Maintain clean, safe, comfortable, and therapeutic patient environments in accordance with organizational standards and infection control protocols
- Respond promptly to patient calls and requests, demonstrating patience and empathy in all patient interactions
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, ensuring clarity and transparency in all exchanges
- Recognize and respond immediately to emergencies, alarms, and urgent situations, alerting appropriate personnel without delay
- Assist the nursing team in planning and implementing patient care while providing valuable input based on direct patient observations
- Document patient care activities accurately and thoroughly to support continuity of care
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information and unit data in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Perform general clerical duties and supply deliveries to patient rooms and ancillary departments as assigned
- Demonstrate sensitivity to patients' comfort, privacy, and individual needs while remaining engaged and attentive
- Identify and communicate concerns related to patients, staff, or safety to the responsible Registered Nurse
- Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge
- Uphold organizational standards of excellence in all professional interactions and responsibilities
**Required Qualifications:**
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles may include Patient Care Technician (PCT), Patient Assistant Technician (PAT), or similar programs)
OR
- Current enrollment in a nursing program with successful completion of Fundamentals of Nursing course
OR
- Medical Assistant program completion with or without prior experience
OR
- Minimum one (1) year of previous experience in a Nurse Assistant, PCT, PAT, or similar patient care role
OR
- Foreign-trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not currently hold a U.S. state RN license
- BLS Heart Saver Certification (to be completed during orientation if not already held)
- Physical ability to lift, move, and transfer patients, supplies, and equipment safely
- Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment with exposure to communicable diseases and acute patient conditions
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
- Prior experience in a hospital or acute care setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Compassion, empathy, and genuine commitment to patient-centered care
- Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations
