BAE Systems is seeking an exceptional Nuclear Surety Engineer for the LGM-35A Sentinel Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) program development, acquisition, operations, and sustainment efforts. The Systems Engineer will:
This position is intended for individuals with prior education/experience in the fields of electrical, mechanical, software, or nuclear engineering as well as advanced electronics. Conduct technical nuclear surety analyses, nuclear certification assessments, and risk/ vulnerability analyses. Perform safety/security evaluations of design, operation, and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, propulsion, transportation & handling, nuclear command & control, software, and communications subsystems
Provide direction on Nuclear Safety Design Certification compliance including Weapon System (WS) specifications, WS architecture, and compliance documents (DoDD, DoDI's, AFIs, AFMANs) with integration into MBSE environment to produce artifacts for Nuclear Certification IAW AFI 63-125
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- BS degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or related field + 6 years of experience OR MS degree + 4 years of experience OR 12 years of Nuclear Surety/Nuclear Certification experience in lieu of a Science, Technology, or Engineering degree is acceptable.
- Knowledge related to application of nuclear safety and nuclear security techniques
- Knowledge and understanding of AFI 63-125, Nuclear Certification Program
- Knowledge and understanding of 91 Series AFIs and AFMANs
- Principal skill set includes ability to perform all stated/implied duties within this tier and those reasonably derived from preceding tier
- Experience with DoD, AF Nuclear Surety policy & processes or equivalent NNSA nuclear safety policy & processes
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Self-directed; works independently
Experience with Air Force nuclear weapon systems, ICBM experience
Previous Staff work experience
Experience in MBSE/CAMEO/DOORS
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $72150 - $122655

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
