About the role
We’re seeking an ITS Surveillance & Detection Engineer to support the delivery, operation and optimisation of surveillance and detection technologies, including cameras, incident detection systems and traffic counting solutions.
You’ll join an innovative and collaborative technology team that values continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and practical problem-solving in a live operational environment.
As our ITS Surveillance & Detection Engineer, you’ll contribute to lasting and positive changes that help keep our roads moving safely and efficiently shaping the future of our cities and communities. It’s meaningful, challenging and exciting work.
Day-to-day, you will:
Support the operation, maintenance and improvement of tolling system, surveillance and detection systems, operations management and control systems, plant management & control systems, automated video incident detection system, PABX, and traffic counting technologies
Participate Assist with monitoring system performance, fault identification and resolution in collaboration with internal teams and external vendors
Conduct business continuity testing, system backups, and disaster recovery procedures to ensure network reliability
Contribute to asset management, documentation, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives across ITS and OT environments
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferable skills and experiences, including:
A tertiary technical qualification or trade certificate, with professional experience in ITS systems or a relevant technical domain
Strong communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, presentations and concise management updates
Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage competing deadlines and work autonomously
A sound understanding of technical systems, enabling effective collaboration with operational, engineering and delivery teams
Willingness to participate in 24/7 on-call roster after training to provide critical system support
Preferred: A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technology discipline, with knowledge of OT operations, asset management and project delivery
