About the Role
The New Product Introduction (NPI) Procurement Manager will develop supply chain for NPI projects by leading the sourcing actions for the NPI cross-functional team. This role will work closely with category sourcing, engineering, the factory and the Project Manager. Coordinated activities are driving RFQs and selecting suppliers, purchasing materials to support product development stages, managing material readiness for implementation of prototype builds and mass production. The successful candidate will oversee and control the product costs from development to implementation into the factory. This candidate will lead all procurement actions, report project progress from operation standpoint and must be responsive, flexible, result-driven within an open collaborative peer environment.
What You Will Do
- Lead & drive procurement sourcing actions throughout the NPI development process with category sourcing, from identifying candidates, RFQs, supplier selection until the system is ready for production.
- Closely working with engineering and PM to understand the requirements and drive design maturity to ensure sourcing activities can start and end on time.
- Coordinate and conduct procurement of materials required to support ALL product builds (indirect proto purchases and mass production purchasing by the factory).
- Oversee, control, and report product materials costs from project kickoff to project close. Coordinate actions with sourcing, project cross functional team and other related stakeholders to optimize and drive the best cost upfront.
- Follow up and update tooling progress to make sure it’s on time to support build.
- Responsible to work with trade compliance team to drive USMCA assessment.
- Conduct regular meetings with procurement and operations, and project team to communicate status, and coordinate material readiness to support NPI deliverables throughout the project development.
- Voice out and escalate risks which potentially impact NPI baseline (cost/quality/delivery) and provide solutions.
- Complete NPI deliverables for each gate, Provide project status updates to NPI team and present to management.
What You Need to Be Successful
- Bachelor’s degree with a preference for business administration or economics or engineering.
- Good at Excel, PPT etc. office tools.
- SAP experience.
- Be proactive and display initiative to drive sense of urgency; skillful to lead and drive discussions to achieve deliverables with category sourcing and cross functional teams.
- Have a solid understanding of the procurement process and NPI development process.
- Ability to multitask with good organization skills to provide feedback to cross functional team
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills required in English, with experience operating across global teams in a multi-cultural environment.
- Able to travel to the US and Mexico.
Bonus Points if You Have
- Program/project management skills in a cross functional team environment.
- Have a solid understanding of speakers and electronics products.
- Experience in purchasing components for manufacturing use.
- Knowledge of modern procurement tools such as SAP, iValua, Ariba.
