Who You Are
We seek a NPI Engineer to create highly accurate work instructions, designs, fixtures, and assemblies during the New Product introduction engineering and assembly of new products with review and NPI publication to production. This position is dedicated to producing highly accurate work instructions for NPI and production assembly operations. Attention to detail of all work instruction is required for assembly products in production that consist of high-precision components and/or complex system architectures. This position will manage verified processes, fixtures as needed, tooling, 3D printing, Design, and lessons learned support to engineering and production.
What You Will Do
- Design of production tooling/fixtures for quality and assembly consistency (i.e., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion preferred)
- Developing assembly work instructions
- Set up and support of new product lines
- Create time standards, process maps, and operation steps.
- General knowledge of various fabrication/manufacturing processes such as: CNC machining, sheet metal cutting/forming, PCBA, wire harness, box build assembly processes, 3D Printing
- Design For Manufacturability (DFM/DFX)
- Engineering Change Notices (ECN)
Specific Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and implement manufacturing and assembly processes for new product introduction
- Manage the New Product Introduction build process with Model shop resources, Report design and build findings.
- Work with design engineers, Engineering, Quality, and Inspection to determine critical features and determine best methods to ensure quality and reliability while maintaining ease of manufacturing/assembly
- Review detailed fabrication, assembly, and sub-assembly drawings for accuracy and tolerances
- Determine parts, equipment, and tools needed to achieve NPI assembly goals according to customer product specifications
- Design tooling and fixturing for production and quality assurance
- Develop and optimize process flow and work instructions
- Support production requests to verify process plans for quality, safety, efficiency, reduction of Cycle-times, and increased throughput.
- Maximize production efficiency by optimizing the layout of equipment, workflow, and assembly methods
- Identify new and existing equipment/resource constraints and opportunities for improvement
- Issue and answer Root Cause Corrective Actions using various methods. (8D, 5-Why, DAMAIC, Fish Bone, SPC)
What You Need
- BS in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering
- Experience with AutoCAD, Autodesk FUSION, SolidWorks, and/or other types of CAD or 3D modeling software
- Microsoft Office
- Professional experience within a electronics manufacturing environment..
- Understanding of ISO, IPC, and J-Standards
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and assembly drawings
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- Team leadership ability with exceptional organizational skills.
Our good faith estimate of the salary range for this role is $74,157 - $87,345. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and other factors. In addition to base pay, we offer a full benefits package.
This position requires on-site presence at Spellman High Voltage headquarters in Hauppauge, NY.
