Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The Film and Scatterometry Technology (FaST) Division provides industry leading metrology solutions for worldwide semiconductor IC manufacturers. The FaST Division portfolio of metrology products includes hardware and software solutions for optical film thickness, optical critical dimension (CD), composition, and resistivity measurement systems. These products are essential for the IC manufacturers as they provide critical metrology capabilities for the development and implementation of their advanced IC processes. The FaST division is committed to support our customers to achieve performance entitlement of our solution and we effectively partner with our customers from their early research and development phase to the high volume in-line manufacturing implementation specific for their process needs. The division consists of a global team located in US, Israel, China, and India.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer Intern

Join the action! As an NPI engineer Intern, you will support our division's new product development process. This engineering adventure starts with providing hands-on support during technology feasibility evaluations and continues through the release of new products into production. Along the way, you will be partnered with the development engineering team to complete product designs as well as build, test, and improve new prototypes. Are you ready? Key responsibilities and skills:
  • Own NPI deliverables, related to product BOMs, procedures, tooling, fixtures.
  • Lead multi-functional team (project manager) to meet key milestones, while meeting project requirements.
  • Key participant in the design and development process; Propose new ideas and improvements, determine and review requirements, and drives crucial project decisions. Experiencing, contributing to, and owning components in the critical PLC process.
  • Coordinate prototype material, build, align, and test opto-mechanical, mechanical, and electrical assemblies for design validation and assembly procedure development.
  • Generate and release the product Bill of Material (BOM) and work with technical writers to provide valuable input to generate assembly, integration, and test procedures.
  • Drive the development of the alignment/test tooling and packaging that are required to build and ship assemblies from our vendors to our manufacturing facility and the field.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with new designs and prototypes through assembly, testing, and system integration in a cleanroom environment.
  • Possess strong communication skills and make decisions based on data.
  • A motivated self-starter who is fast-learning, capable of working independently, and can effectively coordinate with a globally distributed team.

Minimum Qualifications

NPI Engineer Intern minimum qualifications:
  • Pursuing Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Optical, Electrical or Manufacturing) or Physics or related technical field.
  • Detailed, thorough with good troubleshooting skills and ability to think as a project manager.
  • Experience with building and aligning opto-mechanical systems is desirable.
  • Experience with Semiconductor Capital Equipment a plus.
  • Familiarity using 3D CAD software, preferably ProE/CREO a plus.

Base Pay Range: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour based on pursuit of a Bachelor’s

The range displayed reflects the pay for this position in the primary location identified in this posting. Actual pay depends on several factors, including state minimum pay wage rates, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education level or training.
