The Role:
Our site in Colorado Springs, CO is seeking a New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer to join our team. Our site will manufacture Micro Contamination Control (MC) membrane products such as ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UPE) membrane and other membrane products for Semi-conductor and Life Science industries. As part of NPI team, you will be a leading contributor in our efforts to start up a new membrane operations plant and continue to transfer newly developed products to this plant for manufacturing. You will use your skills/experience to influence product design teams to design for manufacturability, while ensuring the highest levels of quality and safety as you drive the successful transitions of products into full scale manufacturing. This will include commissioning and qualifying of new products, processes, and equipment for use in high volume production. This role will report to the NPI Manager located in Colorado Springs.
What You’ll Do:
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

Work with an existing cross functional team including operations, membrane R&D, quality, procurement, facilities, EH&S and project management to make our new plant a success.

Work with R&D and product managers to define minimum and target performance requirements (i.e. success criteria) for new products

Develop and execute successful Validation and Qualification (V&Q) protocols to transfer and startup new membrane products

Execute necessary reviews to ensure robust product transfer including PFMEAs, Design Freeze, and Manufacturing Assessments which will include selection of manufacturing site, raw and finished goods material planning, chemical/waste plan, ramp/capacity planning, & cost roadmap

Ensure all systems, documentation, and controls are in place for full scale production (Design Reviews, SAP, Process Records, etc).

Support product customer samples and qualification builds made on high volume equipment through use of development work orders.

Lead commissioning and qualification of ‘first-of-kind’ process equipment. Support efforts to guide the install and commissioning of new production scale equipment, following typical IQ/OQ/PQ protocols to meet Key Performance Output Variables (KPOV) targets.

Develop and drive new solutions to existing membrane/device manufacturing challenges such as improving yield, increasing capacity, and minimizing variation.

Communicate with multicultural cross functional team and build consensus to drive projects to completion in a timely manner.

Use of our stage-gate process to move products from Engineering Phase to Pilot Phase and finally to Manufacturing Phase. Focus on improvement of First Pass Yield (FPY) and cycle time during pilot scale production

Be a hands-on Engineer to go out on the production floor and learn the process to become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support product transfer.

Develop and implement the future state of manufacturing excellence in our factory

During the initial 4-6 months, this role will involve travel between Colorado and Massachusetts for training purposes, followed by a normal work schedule in Colorado Springs after 6 months

Work both independently and on a team. Lead with influence across multi-disciplinary team

Flexibility in work schedule during initial training and start-up period to meet the demands of project schedule. This will include ~50% travel for training. After plant start-up is complete, the schedule will return to normal business hours with 10% travel.

Experience in statistical data analysis with MINITAB or other statistical software and capable of utilizing data for informed engineering related decision-making.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
-
B.S or M.S. in Chemical/Materials/Polymer engineering or related technical discipline

Minimum of 3 - 5 years of industry experience
Outstanding Candidates Will Have:

Expertise in qualifying new facilities, equipment, processes, or products is a plus

Experience in membrane manufacturing, extrusion, web handling or thin film processing or non-woven manufacturing processes is a plus

Salary in the $101,000K-131,000K/year range with actual pay dependent on candidate overall skills for the role.
