AltaMed offers mentoring services for youth as a supplement to educational and occupational skills training available through our existing Workforce Development program. Technology skills training, career exploration, and leadership development are all benefits for the thousands who have formally gone through our Workforce Development program.
Workforce Development coordinates of all of AltaMed’s internships, including AmeriCorps and clinical placement. More broadly, though, it exists to promote the sustainable growth of AltaMed’s workforce, one day seeking to supply 10-20 percent of our employees, and aims to ensure that AltaMed is hiring from within the communities we serve with greater retention in mind.
Job Overview
3wilThe Public Affairs Department is responsible for the oversight of a multi-faceted public relations and media relations program. The Department also supports the development and execution of projects, and other deliverables on behalf of internal and external business partners, including media interviews, press conferences, special events, meetings, and sponsorships. The Department works closely with the office of the President and CEO, CAO, and Executive Leadership team, Government Relations team, and the AltaMed Foundation.
Responsibilities
The intern will:
1) Provide assistance with scheduling and organizing events
2) Sending daily communication to internal and external business partners via Email and WebEx
3) Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
1) Bilingual: English/Spanish preferred.
2) Undergrad major or recent undergrad in Communications, Journalism or Marketing
3) Strong written and verbal communication skills
4) Good personal organization skills, ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize and use time effectively
5) Basic computer skills including the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
6) Ability to work with confidential information
7) Ability to work effectively with all levels of management
8) Reliable transportation as this role will be on-site
