BUSINESS: CIRCOR Naval Solutions

DIRECT REPORTING: NDT Quality Supervisor

POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

The successful candidate for this position has a strong knowledge of materials and engineering processes. They are able to work within a team as well as independently, a passion for continuous improvement, and be the face of NDT to your customers. Listen to customer's problems, build on the experiences you have personally had, and then develop innovative ways to solve their engineering problems. A Level III individual should have sufficient technical knowledge and skills to be capable of developing, qualifying, and approving procedures, establishing and approving techniques, interpreting codes, standards, specifications and procedures; and designating the NDT method, techniques and procedures to be used. The NDT level III should be responsible for the NDT operations for which qualified and assigned and should be capable of interpreting and evaluating results in terms of existing codes, standards, and specifications. The NDT level III should have sufficient practical background in applicable materials, fabrications and product technology to establish techniques and to assist in establishing acceptance criteria when none are otherwise available. The NDT level III should have general familiarity with other appropriate NDT methods, as demonstrated by an ASNT level III basic examination or other means. The NDT level III, in methods in which certified, should have sufficient technical knowledge and skills to be capable of training and examining NDT level I, II, and III personnel for certification in those methods.

Principal Activities

  • Job requires familiarity with technical drawings, the ability to read inspection plans, and specification documents. Will require the engineer to navigate between these multiple sources.
  • Knowledge of NAVSEA special processes and Electric Boat requirements regarding NDT
  • Understand and interpret codes, standards, specifications, and Customer requirements related to NDT inspection to meet Manufacturing demands and compliance.
  • Develop procedures to achieve maximum productivity in accordance with specified quality requirements
  • Drive improvements in all related manufacturing processes, including those related to products, equipment, and product quality for customers
  • Understanding the requirements for Material Testing and Non-Destructive and how to apply that information to a real part given its specifications and inspection plan.
  • Train and mentor Level, I and Level II technicians, Perform site assessments and leadership in audits Qualifications
  • Maintain program documentation.

Job Requirements:

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in engineering or quality
    • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering or science, plus one additional year of experience beyond the level II requirements in NDT in an assignment comparable to that of an NDT Level II in the applicable NDT method(s).
    • Have completed with passing grades at least two years of engineering or science study at a university, college, or technical school, plus two additional years of experience beyond the NDT level II requirements in an assignment comparable to that of an NDT Level II in the applicable NDT method(s).
    • Have four years of experience beyond level II requirements in NDT in an assignment comparable to that of an NDT II in the applicable NDT method(s)
    • ASNT-TC-1A NDT Level III certification required to be obtained within 6 months
    • 3+ years' experience in manufacturing or quality
    • Familiarity with NAVSEA components, requirements, and specifications recommended
    • US Citizen required due to the nature of the work
