Job Description Summary
Candidate is responsible for planning, managing, developing and oversight of the execution of Noise and Vibration data collection and analysis. Work involves testing/analyzing various transmission components and powertrain systems. The NVH Engineer will be responsible for configuring test systems, data collection & analysis, test reports and working closely on a daily basis as an interface between Product Engineering and our valued internal/external customers.
Job Description
Essential Duties:
- Basic understanding of transmission and powertrain systems.
- Utilization of a systems engineering approach to design, develop, implement, and execute reliable, repeatable testing in support of business needs and timing.
- Plans, manages, and oversees the execution of NVH tests.
- Documents test events/results through Test Reports, log entries and database entries as appropriate.
- Prepares, or assists in preparation of program bids or requests for cost estimates.
- Observes applicable procedures and practices as delineated in Test Operations Manual, PE Procedures, and Standard Procedures.
- Working with a high level of independent judgment and decision making.
- Establishes and updates best practices and standardized testing procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Acoustical Engineering or equivalent degree/experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient with NVH analysis tools (Siemens LMS preferred)
- Proficient in oral and written business communication.
- Experience in laboratory test environment as well as Field Engineering.
- High level of technology experience with noise and vibration analysis, data acquisition equipment and systems, and heavy duty test equipment or equivalent experience with industrial systems.
- Ability to generate clear and concise formal presentations and proposals.
- High level of analytical ability.
- High level of interpersonal skills.
- Ability to set and meet goals for all deliverables.
- Demonstrated technical ability.
- Proficient with computer operations, including Microsoft Office tools.
- Ability to travel as needed
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 5 years of Mechanical/Automotive Systems Engineering experience with a focus in Noise, Vibration and Harshness.
- Balancing experience with a focus in grade/quality.
- Torsional vibration measurement and analysis
- Modal analysis
- Basic knowledge of automatic transmission operation, clutches, controls (both hydraulic and electrical), hydraulics, gears, electric machines, and hybrid and electrified propulsion systems desired but not required.
- Basic knowledge and troubleshooting experience in various powertrain systems preferred.
