You’ll work in a collaborative environment alongside highly talented people that improve client operations and exceed expectations. We strive to simplify technology challenges, and no less.
Who Are We Looking For?
The NOC Engineer is a core member of Mobiz's 24×7 Network Operations Center, responsible for monitoring, triaging, and resolving infrastructure incidents across cloud, network, server, and endpoint environments for a portfolio of managed services clients. This is a mid-level role suited to engineers who have moved beyond basic alert acknowledgement and are ready to own incident investigations end-to-end — applying technical judgment, coordinating with engineering teams, and ensuring every action is documented to a professional standard. NOC Engineers at Mobiz work across a diverse multi-client estate spanning Microsoft Azure, enterprise firewalls, and hybrid infrastructure, providing broad exposure that accelerates technical growth across networking, cloud operations, and security disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
Alert Monitoring & Triage
- Monitor client infrastructure across cloud, network, server, and endpoint platforms using RMM and Azure Monitor dashboards throughout assigned shift.
- Acknowledge, categorize, and prioritize incoming alerts against defined SLA windows; apply runbook procedures to execute first-response actions.
- Create accurate, well-documented ServiceNow tickets for every actionable alert — capturing symptoms, affected systems, actions taken, and current status.
- Perform initial and intermediate triage to determine scope, impact, and root cause direction before escalating to senior engineers or the NOC Manager.
- Execute routine health checks, backup job verification, patch status reviews, and capacity threshold monitoring across client environments.
- Maintain full shift awareness of all open incidents, scheduled maintenance windows, and active change records relevant to monitored environments.
Incident Response & Escalation
- Own assigned P1 and P2 incidents from acknowledgement through resolution or structured handoff; maintain continuous status updates in ServiceNow throughout.
- Perform diagnostic investigation — log analysis, network path tracing, service dependency mapping, and Azure resource health review — to drive resolution.
- Coordinate with engineering squads (cloud, network, security, EUS) and, where applicable, vendor TAC teams for complex resolution paths.
- Participate in Major Incident Management (MIM) bridge calls under NOC Manager direction — providing real-time technical status and driving toward containment.
- Conduct structured shift handovers ensuring all open incidents, active alerts, and suppression statuses are clearly communicated to the incoming shift.
Platform Operations & Maintenance
- Monitor RMM agent health across client environments — investigate agent offline alerts and coordinate remediation with client IT or endpoint teams.
- Assist with onboarding new client environments into monitoring platforms: configure alert thresholds, notification policies, and monitoring templates.
- Validate backup job completion for client environments (Azure Backup, Recovery Services Vaults, third-party agents); escalate failures per defined playbook.
- Support patching operations — monitor Azure Update Manager and RMM patch job outcomes; escalate failures and document exceptions.
- Maintain NOC tooling hygiene: close resolved alerts, decommission stale monitoring objects, and keep CMDB data aligned with client asset changes.
Documentation & Knowledge Management
- Author and update runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge base articles in ServiceNow following incident resolution.
- Document all actions taken during a shift with sufficient detail for a peer to reconstruct the investigation timeline without additional context.
- Contribute to post-incident review (PIR) documentation for P1 events; provide accurate technical timelines and action logs to the NOC Manager.
- Identify gaps in existing runbooks based on recurring incidents or novel failure modes; propose updates through the appropriate review process.
- Support continuous improvement by flagging noisy alert thresholds, false-positive patterns, and tuning opportunities to the NOC Manager.
Candidate Profile: Requirements & Preferred Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of NOC, infrastructure operations, or systems administration experience in a managed services or enterprise environment.
- Solid networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing protocols, and WAN connectivity diagnostics.
- Hands-on experience with at least one enterprise firewall platform: Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet FortiGate, WatchGuard, or Cisco Meraki.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure: VM health monitoring, NSG rules, Azure Monitor alerts, Log Analytics basics, and Recovery Services Vault backup jobs.
- Experience with ServiceNow or an equivalent ITSM platform for incident lifecycle management and documentation.
- Familiarity with RMM tooling (ConnectWise Automate, N-able, Datto RMM, or equivalent) for agent monitoring and remote remediation.
- Ability to independently investigate and resolve P2-level incidents with clear, professional documentation.
- Strong communication skills — written and verbal — with the discipline to keep stakeholders informed throughout an incident lifecycle.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft certifications: AZ-104 (Azure Administrator) or AZ-900 (Azure Fundamentals) — or actively pursuing.
- CompTIA Network+ or equivalent networking certification.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Sentinel for basic alert consumption and triage (KQL query reading, not authoring required).
- Exposure to endpoint security platforms: Microsoft Defender for Endpoint or CrowdStrike Falcon (read/triage access).
- Basic scripting skills: PowerShell or KQL for log queries and diagnostic automation.
- Experience monitoring BCDR platforms: Azure Site Recovery, backup job alerting, or equivalent third-party agents.
