Install, service and repair natural and propane gas systems and appliances for residential and commercial clients. Perform inspections, testing and code-compliant installations to ensure safe operation.

Main Duties- Install, assemble and connect gas piping, meters, regulators, appliances and associated fittings in residential, commercial and industrial settings.
- Inspect and test gas systems and appliances using pressure testing and leak-detection equipment to verify safety and compliance with regulations.
- Diagnose and repair faults in gas equipment and piping, replacing defective components and performing emergency repairs as required.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and technical specifications to plan and execute installations and maintenance tasks.
- Maintain accurate service records, prepare work reports, track parts and materials, and communicate job status to clients and supervisors.
- Follow applicable safety standards and building codes, participate in site hazard assessments and attend required safety training.
- Completion of a recognized gasfitter apprenticeship program or equivalent trade certification.
- Provincial or territorial gas fitter certification or license where required to perform the work.
- Several years of hands-on experience installing, inspecting and servicing gas systems and appliances.
- Working knowledge of applicable gas and building codes, standards and safe work practices.
- Physical ability to perform manual tasks, work in confined spaces and at heights when required.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between job sites.
- Proficient use of gas detection devices, pressure testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and mechanical problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and technical manuals.
- Understanding of combustion, venting and appliance operation principles.
- Effective communication and customer service skills for interacting with clients and team members.
- Time management and organizational skills for scheduling, recordkeeping and job planning.
