Job Description

Due to continued growth, NineStar Connect is looking for a Groundman to join our Electric Operations team. In this role, you will provide assistance to line crews for the continuity of line service, maintenance, and construction functions of the Cooperative. If you are safety-minded, eager to learn, and committed to delivering quality service, we want to hear from you!

What You'll Do: 

  • Assist line crews with the construction, maintenance, and repair of electric distribution systems.

  • Act as a “safety observer” for line crews when working on energized lines.

  • Develop expertise in the proper use of all electric utility materials, tools, and special equipment to effectively support crews.

  • Operate various electric utility equipment including aerial lifts and digger trucks.

  • Gather, inspect, and load materials for daily assignments.

  • Maintain vehicles, tools, and work areas in safe working order.

  • Assist with both underground and overhead electrical work.

  • Perform on-call duty for outages, emergencies, and after-hours work, including some holidays, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Basic knowledge of electricity and vehicle maintenance preferred.

  • Willingness to work at heights up to 100 feet and in varied terrain and weather.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Indiana CDL (Class A required) within 6 months of hire.

Additional Information: 

  • Operations policy states all trades and crafts employees who are subject to “call-in” duty must reside (bonafide residence) within the perimeters of NineStar service territory. (15 miles radius from 2243 E Main St, Greenfield, IN 46140)
